Annual Pass Free Dining in August/Sept

If you have an annual pass and are going in August/Sept do you still get the free dining option or do you only get it if you purchase the regular tickets?

Free dining is only available if you purchase a ticket and hotel package together so I would assume not.

We upgraded to AP's last trip and booked for free DDP for next Sept. We had to book a package with tickets in order to get free DDP, but just got the one day base tickets (~$70 for adults) which we'll save for a future trip. You can certainly still use your AP's instead of the tickets you purchase with your package, and the couple hundred $$ in tickets (which won't be wasted--we'll just use them another trip) is well worth free DDP to us.

I keep hearing that you can use that $70 ticket towards the purchase of your next years AP. You may want to check into that.
