annual pass discounts

I had read that if you are an annual ticket holder you get a large discount in the Disney Resorts....

Is this true???

I am getting mixed info and I know that I will get the right info here....this board is GREAT!!!

Check our www.mousesavers.com. Click on Walt Disney World then resorts. All the info that you need. But hurry! Discounts may be getting to be slim pickins now!

The discounts are not guaranteed, but they are terrific when they are available. For example, we have a passholders discount for part of our October trip (wasn't available for all of the days) that brings our rate for Poly lagoon view concierge down to $410 from $525. Only one adult guest needs to have an annual pass to get the discounted rate, so it can definitely be advantageous.
There are other perkas, as well, such as discounts on miniature golf, regular golf, some restaurants, DisneyQuest and Cirque du Soleil, etc.

If you are only buying the AP to get room discounts (i.e. you don't anticipate using it for park entry numerous times over the year's membership), you can get similar discounts (codes)that appear in the newspapers, or on the Disney info sites such as mouseears..(they aren't quite as good as an AP rate, but depending on what kind of resort, the difference in rates may be almost negligible...For example, the recent BAT rate that appeared in the newspapers available to the public had Value Resorts for $55. The AP rate was $49..Hardly worth the $400 for the AP if you are not going to use it for more than 7 days of park entries..) You really have to caluculate the difference between other available discount rates vs. the AP rate, not just rack rate vs. AP rate. Then calculate number of park entry days using the AP vs a Park hopper pass. It is very confusing....Sorry....
