:wizard: We are seriously considering buying Annual Passes this trip and wonder how the room discounts work....do you get a code when you purchase them to use when booking your trip? How can you find out what the discounts are for the time you are considering?
Any info on this would be great to help us decide!
Thanks!!:)

no code - you just a book a room asking for the AP discount rate and then you produce the annual pass at check in. they will charge the prevailing rate if no annual pass is produced usually within 24 hours of check in.
they tend to run the AP discounts for roughly the same periods as the public discount periods, and usually give a 2 - 5 % deeper discount.
Mousesavers give good information and track the announcements. As well as these boards - people post as soon as discounts are announced.

There is a link to the Annual Passholder's website on the MDE experience:

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/passholder/

Once you have the annual passes linked to your MDE account, you'll be able to check for discounts for your resort and dates. AP discounts are usually announced some time after the general public discounts. We had a general public discount of 35% for our March trip to the BC that we had booked last October. The AP discount for that period was released in November and we were able to apply the 37% AP discount to our existing reservation. It saved us an additional $77, definitely worth the effort.

The AP discount was only another 2%? That does not seem right?

They offer the discounts to fill rooms they have not yet filled. If their rooms are filling up, they have no need to offer discounts to anyone. If enough people are willing to pay "rack rates" for their rooms, they have no need to offer discounts. They always specify that "The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited." Unfortunately Disney does not offer discounts to make us happy, they offer discounts when they need to fill their rooms.

Even though I am eligible for General Public, AP and Florida Resident discounts, for our stay this past January, I was only able to get 27% off of a courtyard view at the Wilderness Lodge, while some of the %'s off for other room categories in the same hotel at the same time, were higher. I made my reservation and got that discount when the General Public discounts came out. When the subsequent discounts (AP and Florida Resident) came out, the offer was no better. Apparently WDW was satisfied that they didn't need to offer any higher discounts.

My suggestion would be that when the General Public discounts come out, if the room category that you desire is available, book it at that time, because it may be the best offer you see. Then when the AP discounts come out, you can call and have any better discount applied, as previous posters have said.

yep - that's the additional discount on top of the general public discount rate and I've seen it vary between 2 - 5% - random - depends on dates and resort. I have done as MsThumper suggests - booked my room on GP rate and then had the additional AP discount when those are announced.

Would someone with access to the AP site mind checking two rates for me?
May 11 to May 17
Pop Standard or
Caribbean Beach Standard

It looks like from what I can see on MouseSavers.com that I could actually get 33% off at Pop versus the 20% I got through the general public offer.

Thanks in advance.

Pop St = $633.69
CBR St = $910.41
incl tax

Thanks Sugarglider. I had already called to check and I am disappointed that the discount for Pop is only about 25% which is pretty normal. Everywhere I had seen the promo listed it had said up to 33% so I was really hoping for the 33%. I wonder which value rooms are getting the 33%?

Thanks again for checking.
