Anyone had any luck getting the annual pass discount for someone that does not actually have an ID with the same address as you?

My fiance bought DVC for me a couple of years ago and he is an associate on the account but not an actual purchaser. We normally just buy length of stay passes. This year we are going for 5 days in May and again in December for 10 days so we are wanting to buy annual passes.

We do live together but neither of our IDs actually shows our current address because we just bought a new house. Should we just pay to have our drivers licenses renewed so they will show the same address or does anyone else know any other way around this?

In many states you are supposed to change our DL within 10 days of relocating, anyway.

As the previous poster said, you will need gov't ID wih the same address to get the DVC AP discount.

Actually, I think you will both need IDs that match the address of the actual purchaser, not just your fiance who is listed as an associate. Who did purchase, and if it's yours, why isn't it in your name, too????

I don't know if that matters as long as you have your DVC card.

I bought my AP last October and the address on my drivers license is not my current address. They didn't have a problem with that since I had a DVC card with my name on it.

I would think just the names would have to match.

The DL address have to match each other. You can not buy an AP, for instance, for adult children that do not live with you. How else would Disney know if the person is really an immediate family member or just a neighbor traveling with you?

Well, then I got a nice CM because my address on my DL is 5 years old but my name on the DVC card and DL match and I just told them the address on the DL is not accurate.

Possibly because I am the actual owner with a DVC card vs. buying for immediate family that isn't an owner or associate so doesn't have a card for them to match the names. Just a thought.

My fiance purchased the DVC membership as a gift to me. He put the membership in my name only. I do have my DVC membership card. I know it will not be a problem to get the discount for my ticket. Was just curious about getting the discount for him also since we do actually live in the same household.

Our state does not require to have your licenses changed within a set number of days. Guess we will both go have them changed next week tho so that we do not run into any problems when we purchase the tickets.

He does not have a DVC card since he is only an associate.

I don't know about where you live but in SC if you have a clean driving record you can order renewals, make address changes, etc online for a small fee (like $10) and they mail you a new DL in about a week. It sure beats waiting at the DMV.

I thought it was for "immediate family members" living in the same household. Will your fiance be considered that if you aren't married yet? Or maybe it makes a difference if he is an associate? I'd be interested to hear what the outcome is.

I think there are instances where the wife did not take the husband's name so maybe all you really need is the same address. I also know of some adult children who have moved back home and do not have the same last name as the parents so wonder how that would work. There are so many variables it may just depend on the CM you happen to get when you go to buy the tickets.

Associates are not entitled to any DVC member perks or benefits. They have permission to manage the account only - i.e., make reservations, borrow & bank points.

I'm guessing there are many of us with different last names than our husbands. We had no problem getting our annual passes.

Does anyone know about this ... I am the DVC purchaser and my parents live with me (so we have the same address on our DL) - they're thinking of getting an AP for our next trip (Dec) ... will they be allowed?

Slightly OT but along the same lines as the original post...

Does anyone know if you can upgrade a regular DVC annual pass to premuim after it has been purchased?

I was at WDW with 2 of my DDs last month. We got new annuals while were there. I did not get premiums at the time. I will be back this weekend with DD16 who already has her pass and DD13 who could not go last month. She does not have a new annual pass yet.

I'm planning on buying a premuim pass for DD13 and would like to upgrade mine and DD16's.

Has anyone ever been able to do this?

Thanks! Espana

Yes, you can. You'll need to do it at either a customer service location or a ticket window. Concierge locations cannot process annual passes. Be sure to take your DVC Membership Card and your Driver's License when you do the purchase/upgrade.
