I have been looking but, I can't figure out where to post this. If it needs to be moved I understand.
Question is.... My family has been going to Disney since I was born, well actually since it opened. My parents got annual passes the first year they were offered. They became charter members and my brother and sister and I were all chartered in. When I got married, my husband chartered in. Other than a discount on the annual passes, does anyone know of anything else a charter member gets? You would think Disney would do something special for charter members for being so loyal, but I don't know of anything special Disney does. How many of you are charter members?

The only thing that I know of is the reduction in price. Note that since you do have a Charter AP you can also get one for your son when he turns three. I don't know how soon after his birthday, but from what I have read (on the internal site) it implies it must be while he is three years old and prior to his 4th birthday.

Are those the old ones that were laminated and had your photo on them? My mom and I had that kind like 25 years ago, but let them expire at some point without renewing.

No, our currect tickets are like everyone else's. Charter members have just had their passes since they were first offered and have never let them expire. I didn't imagine there were a lot of us still around. I just don't understand why Disney doesn't do anything special for their Charter members. I mean.....talk about loyalty.

Completely off topic, but I just had to say how much I love the newborn pic in your siggie! What a cute idea! :)

Thanks! :goodvibes I think they turned out really good. Totally not my idea, just a wonderful photographer. I just brought the "ears" along because I wanted to do something with them.

If I am reading correctly, you get the AP's at a discounted rate, as well as discounted AP's for your spouse and kids. I would consider that "special".

And...your baby is adorable!

You can consider that "special". But, what I'm saying is...Disney offers things lots of things to other groups that are not offered to us. The "discount" is not that much, especially when you consider what others get.

Disney does do something special . . . they give you a deeply discounted Annual Pass for your loyalty. :confused3

Not to mention all the other perks that come with an Annual Pass.

I don't know where you got your information....but, I don't get a "deeply discounted" pass. And I already know about the perks that come with an annual pass and so does all of the other annual passholders. That has nothing to do with my question. Please don't take it as me being ungrateful...I am very grateful to my parents for getting this started (charter) and for the discount we receive. I was just looking for information and trying to possibly find out if it is a common thing among passholders.

When I looked it up a basic annual pass at the charter rate is $305.66, the regular renewal rate is 456.89. Is that not a decent discount? The premium charter passes are a similar discount.

What is you are looking for them to do for you, perhaps that would help people better understand your question?

They already know you intend to come back year after year and give you a discount for your loyalty. They are not going to do anything else because they know you are going to come no matter what. I think people forget they are a business ;). I'm not saying you are wrong for expecting anything because I do agree after many years of loyalty they could throw you a gift card with hotel stay deal or something but they lose major money on those incentives to get those that might not come back year after year to get hooked.

Have you called the AP office at Disney to ask them? They'd probably have any info on that type of thing. (The DIS doesnt' know everything!)

If Disney charter member designation is like any other company's charter member designation, it's more of a point of pride than anything else. When most people sign up as "charter members" with a company or a theater or an organization, they do so with the thought of someday bragging to their friends and families that they were "in on the ground floor" or "there at the beginning" ... not so that 40 years down the road they get better discounts than the next guy. It's ceremonial more than anything else.

:earsboy:

$150 discount per ticket, that is a pretty great discount. Just for my family of three that would be $450! Basically the price of one AP.

For folks that have been renewing for a while year after year that could add up to thousands easily.

If you go to the bottom of Post #16 if the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets you will see all the various AP (and PAP) prices.

Thanks. I was very hesitant about asking this because I didn't want to seem ungrateful. All I wanted to know was....Do they (Disney) offer anything else to Charter members? If there were other Charter members on this board, I figured they would know. What I was thinking is.... any special hotel discounts or dining discounts at a particular time of year? front of the line at ride previews? something like that. I wasn't saying I don't appreciate our annual discount....I really do. I was just asking.
