Annual Pass Activation Question?

I am looking to purchase new annual passes now for our upcoming trip in May. I assume the Voucher will not be activated until I use the pass in May. My question is... Do I still need to link the Voucher info to our MDE account ahead of time? I want to make sure if I link the voucher that it doesn't start the 1 year clock on the pass. I'm also assuming that you can link a voucher to your MDE account.

Really appreciate any help, info, or tips.

You should link the voucher if you want to make FP+ ahead of time. It doesn't "activate" your ticket but shows that you have one and are thus eligible.

If you're logged in when you buy them online it should link automatically.

If you buy from Disney through your MDE, it's already linked

If you buy from outside source, link your pass to your MDE.

You need tickets linked to make FP's ahead of time.

Your AP doesn't start until it's activated in person

Activation starts when you show photo ID so it can't start until you do that in person.

I have a hard annual pass. I received it when I turned in my voucher. I can use my magic band to enter the park, but I need my yellow card and my ID to receive any discount.

When you turn in your voucher, they give you the AP cards.

You'll need to show photo ID after the CM scans your band, once they've checked you are who you say you are, they'll print you the discount card.

It actually doesn't matter where you purchase your tickets. Everyone is suppose to show the card and picture ID for their discount.

You will need to activate your AP at a ticket window before using it. At that time, you will also be given a yellow discount card. When you want to purchase something with the discount, you need to show that yellow card and an ID. There is no way to just tap your MB and get the discount. It would be nice, but you can't.
