Hello all,

I am in a bit of a sticky situation and trying to figure out what to do. My husband unfortunately was out of work for several months when the company he worked for went out, but thankfully has a new job that will be great for our family and he loves.

Thankfully, we've been able to keep up with our DVC loan payments, but as our savings have dwindled to nothing we are scraping together to pay bills until he gets his first paycheck with the new job at the beginning of April. We are just trying to keep going until we can cross that finish line. I've taken my kids out of gymnastics, anything extra is gone. Our annual dues are due, and has caused much concern. We are trying to find the money to pay them, but wondering if we should/could wait until he gets paid in April? I am unfamiliar with the process of DVC foreclosure and we have not heard from Disney yet. I hate being late but we are running out of options beside borrowing from my parents which I also hate to do as we've always tried to be independent. We don't want to lose our DVC, but also need to keep the lights on. Out of curiosity (not that it really matters) when would Disney cancel a reservation we had for the future?

I hate feeling like a deadbeat. We are just trying to hold on. Do you have any experience with this or advice? Please be kind in your answers, it's been a stressful time.

Are you paying monthly? Or did you miss the Feb 15 deadline?

I think you should call them when ours were due I called them to change the date by a week due to how our monthly pay falls it wasn't a problem.
It would be much better for you if you call and make arrangements than have them chasing you. I hope your situation continues to improve.

Oh sorry -- yes that is good information to have!! We pay ours in one lump sum (argh!) So yes, we have missed the Feb 15th deadline. :(

And that's basically why it's so difficult -- its roughly $1200 to pay.

Call them...explain the situation, ask them for an exception. When I went through something like that in 2009 they worked with me. If the first rep days no...ask for a manager, be persistent...they need to get you have no alternative!

Fyi, when you get to 3 months late on loan they start sending warning letters. Not sure about dues. In this day most intelligent companies work with there customers.

Good luck.

I would see if you can start monthly payments, you would owe Jan, Feb, March. You can choose the 1st or 15th. It has to be direct debited from a checking or savings account, there's no service charge.

I wonder if I can start monthly payments if I already owe a lump sum? It's worth a try.

OP I don't have advice, I just want to say Good luck working with DVC ((and not in a sarcastic way!)), I really hope you guys can work out a deal for this temporary situation. :grouphug:

Thank you so much!!

To follow up, we called DVC today. They are switching us to monthly payments so we will only have to pay January, February, and March. I feel so relieved!! Thanks for all your advice. For some reason I thought that it was too late to switch to monthly. Thank goodness I was wrong! :)
