I like it for the purpose that it's use lets me know that- that persons pet is not just a dog/cat/whatever for guarding the house or to keep the kids entertained and/or to witness "the miracle of birth" (what a stupid lousy reason to get a pet):sad2: -

But that dog/cat/whatever is considered a part of the family and is very very important to the person who loves that dog/cat/whatever.

I don't use the term but it doesn't bother me. To each their own.

The only words that have the power to annoy me are ones that describe hate or are spoken with hate.

I think it sounds pretty childish ~ and I do treat my dog like he's one of the kids (better if you ask the kids, LOL) ;) .
But, I'm sure there are things I say that people would find annoying so no big deal...to each his own.

I like it. It describes for me how I feel about my pets. Yes, I know they are children. It is just an endearing term. IMHO

Words people use on the internet pretty much don't bother me

I don't have kids and I adore my animals, but I don't like the word furbabies. Just too cutesy for me. But, I love anybody who USES the word furbabies because that means they probably love animals as much as I do. I'm just a mass of contradictions! :hippie:

I use the term. Sorry if I annoy you guys. Maybe it would help if I explain WHY I use the term? My DH and I are not able to have "real" children. We have had 4 miscarriages, and to fill our void we have gotten puppies to raise. We love and adore our fur-babies. Maybe its selfish of us, but it helps to be the mommy and daddy of "someone".

*proud mommy of 3 fur-babies* :cutie:

I don't use it because my dogs are hairless. Baldbabies does not have quite the same ring.

I hate the use of "furbabies" or any other cutsie terms. I also hate "yummy". I mean where do you here the word "yummy" except in a DIS dining review. I also hate, hate, hate "pooh-sized".

I hear the word yummy almost every weekday of my life - I work at a preschool. I also hear the words potty and ouwie almost everyday as well

I cringe a little every time I read the word. Has anyone heard someone use the word IRL? Just curious--it's not something I've heard spoken aloud before.

Oh, and I've always had dogs and they're very well treated. So it's not that I'm not an animal lover it just brings up a weird image for me of a human baby covered with fur that I find pretty disconcerting.
