Annoying toys...

The 'Wheels on the Bus' game. There is no way to turn off the bus! The song plays over and over again. I have it downstairs in our basement and every now and then you will hear it going off all by itself. It may be heading out to the next yard sale!

The new Sit 'N Spin - why the heck did they have to put music in it -- so every time they spin they press the top and this horrific noise comes out that they think is music and it takes a full minute and a half to stop playing after the last press.

We have that guitar!!! I know how annoying it can be:rolleyes:

Actually any of the Wiggles junk is totally annoying - do you have the dolls? If you have the dolls, the guitar seems tame!

Amen, Castlegazer! I don't know why they took a perfectly good, quiet toy, like the Sit-N-Spin and added noise to it. Everytime I move it, that annoying music starts. Should have added an on/off button to it.

The Wiggles Guitar in and of itself isn't annoying to me, but the way my son pushes the button over and over without letting the song finish drives me nuts. Play your guit...Play your guit....Play your guit..... I just want to scream, "It's play your GUITAR WITH MURREY!!!"

I am also wondering how many building sets they can actually make. We have Lincoln Logs, Legos, Duplos, Kinex, Bionicles, and other various tiny little pieces. What's funny is that I can separate them with my eyes closed. :)

:rotfl:  :rotfl: Blahhhhhhaaaa - same exact thing in my house! I always say to my husband, there he goes again, aspiring to be DJ Jazzy Jeff!

We love to give noisy toys like cars that make squeeling tire sounds and revving engine sounds. We also like to give the alphabet books that ask questions etc love those. Our kids have lots of them so we know how annoying they can get.

I may be dating myself here - but I really hated those silly nano things from a few years back.
My girls would leave them home while they were at school and beg me not to let their nano die.

Anyone else out there crazy enough to try and take care of interactive nano babies for their kids?

One we currently have that drives me crazy is Mr. Bucket.
I let them bring it in to play with - but Mr. Bucket lives in the garage!

My daughter had a Doctor Barbie several years ago. She was battery powered and when you pressed the stethoscope button you'd get this heartbeat sound.

So one night I wake up to this noise.. thumpthump... thumpthump... thumpthump

Groggily, I follow the noise to the toybox and find Doctor Barbie is the culprit. The button is not depressed on the stethescope and I can't figure out why I can't make the thumpthump... thumpthump... thumpthump stop. At this point I'm getting creeped out and all vague memories of possessed toys are starting to seep into my mind.

So, in true loving mommy style I head to the kitchen with Doctor Barbie (thumpthump... thumpthump.. thumpthump), open a drawer, find a steakknife, (It was 3 in the morning... what would YOU have done???) and attempt to open the wee little panel on her back to rip out her battery. (thumpthump... thumpthump... thumpthump)

By now I've got Poes, 'The Telltale Heart', story running through my head. I can't open the panel, I'm having images of my darling daughter waking and wandering into the kitchen, her beloved doll stripped, and mom poised over her with a steak knife. I'm desperate.. (thumpthump... thumpthump... thumpthump) and eventually place the doll outside the front door hoping the battery would run down or it would leave under it's own possessed steam.

The doll was still there in the morning, the heartbeat stopped, and I will never EVER buy a doll like that again.

Marion can we say bride of Chucky.

Just found the Sesame Street Saxaphone today..I was trying to hide it quick when the 3 year old saw it....

I gave it to him and immediately realized why I had hidden it in the first place... you can't push a button and stop it once it gets going and it has this "speed" switch so you can turn the speed at which it plays down, and then it sounds like the battery is dying (we could only hope) so it takes 10x as long to play through its song.

Right now I am anti-anything that has more than 2 or 3 parts. I am SO sick of finding a piece here and there but not enough pieces to make the game or toy playable!

Any toy that repeats every time the button is pressed.. (mentioned earlier).. so your kid can sound like a wanna be rapper...

Oh there are plenty more!

My sister-in-law gave my daughter some type of little saxophone for her first Christmas--she is now 2 1/2 and the original batteries are still in it and going strong! It is the most annoying thing, it sings, plays music, and even walking in her room will set it off sometimes! Aargh! Also she has a vacuum cleaner that also drives me nuts, just barely nudge that thing and off it goes!

Her Fisher Price fishtank, however, which is a nice quiet toy, we seem to be replacing the batteries every month. Thats the way it seems to go--anything horribly annoying the battery will never die, good quiet toys the battery doesn't last. LOL!

The Wiggles guitar, anything with lots of pieces and Bobby the Talking BBQ. The BBQ just starts talking and making noise just by walking by it  .

We thought our BBQ was haunted!!!! We finally yanked the batteries. MIL helpfully replaced them for us. Maybe I should put Bobby in the guest room the next time they come to visit!

One Christmas someone gave my kids a locomotive engine. Not only did the thing make a terrible racket but it "smoked" like an authentic steam engine. It set off the smoke alarm in the house and was never seen or heard from again!

The "Screaming Chicken" not so much a toy as a novelty. BIL gave to my son for Christmas. It looks like a rubber chicken and when you squeeze it, it makes this horrible, well, scream. Every so often my DS gives it a squeeze and scares the doodie of everyone in the house.

We have Bobby Q also and agree that they are posessed by demons at the factory. The girls do not annoy me with the Wiggles guitar, however.

The toys I hate are those that play music and will NOT stop until the song completes. BIL gave a small Sesame Street Boom Box years ago that has NO volume control and will not stop no matter which button you push until it plays it's happy little maddening electronic song.

Of course, we always give his kids loud or messy toys....

Any of DS's toys that play music and don't have an off button or a volume button. I can't believe how many of DS's toys make sounds and he's only 11 months old! It's already driving me nuts!!

I am a Walmart Toy Associate- So I can *completely* agree with the above (well except for Hippos as they dont make noise *in* the box)

I want to add to the list my disliked toys (as an Associate)

1) Hulk Hands- Those huge green gloves that make noise when ya move them

2) All the talking Dora toys (Can you help me name the colors)

3) the swinging Monkeys

4) The vibrating car dash board- Really annoying when your cart starts vibrating....

I can say my return carts usually talk back to me... :)

-em

 Ha ha, Disneyland_emily! I bought those Hulk Hands per DS6's Christmas request-had to buy DS4 same. (From Walmart-my favorite store!) Drove them home, and with every bump the car went over, "Crash, Growl, Roar"! Next day they went back into the car up to the return desk, and with every bump of my shopping cart ,"Crash, Growl, Roar"! Everyone in line totally agreed with my annoyance factor on those and I walked out with my refund...Told DS6 some lame story about them not making them anymore....:wave2:

Oh they still make them (and in 2 shades of green now!)- but *thankfully* they have a better box that doesnt seem to get ripped open and scattered across the store as much... Plus the novelty is gone :)
