Annoying Things People Do

I recently got into photography. We stay around 8 days at Disney, so I'll spend the first few days taking photos, then the next few days sans camera, enjoying the sites.

I think the biggest problem is the entitlement. People spend a lot of money for a Disney vacation and they rightfully deserve a great vacation. But I think people often set up unrealistic expectations. A good CM can be one of the best customer service you'll find, but they can only do so much. Expecting an upgrade or to show up at Narcoossee's the day of and be seated is unrealistic. Disney is a magical place, but the pixie dust only goes too far. Far too many people go to Disney World expecting... the world.

There are many annoying things at Disney, but I absolutely can't STAND it when a large group has to walk side by side (slowly, at that) through the parks. SO tough to get around!

Also, I hold DD on my hip to be at my level, too :) I don't see why kids need to be on shoulders.

There's a FANTASTIC Louis CK standup about this. I can't post or recite it for obvious reasons. He basically jokes about parents that tape their kids' recitals then post it on the internet. He claims "no one actually watches it. They watch one frame and say "AMAZING!"" It's a very funny take on how everyone lives for social validation and fails to enjoy the moment.
I'll have to find it on YouTube. I like Louis CK's stuff.

I really only get annoyed at the narcissistic way that people behave in the parks. There are countless examples, but the one that bothers me most is stopping in the middle of a path. Seriously, there are tens of thousands of people in the park with you. Move over to the side to discuss your plans, read your map, yell at your kids or whatever. You have to keep your head on a swivel because no one is watching where they are going or considering the people around them as they navigate the parks.

This is my biggest pet peeve in the parks! On our last trip as we were walking to the entrance of Epcot from the bus stop and some lady stopped dead in her tracks and bent over to tie her shoe. My husband ended up walking into her and actually kind of grabbing her arm to keep her from falling over. She gave us the nastiest of nasty looks. I told my husband he should have just let her fall over and teach her not to stop in the middle of the sidewalk like that.

I noticed a ton of people during the fireworks shows holding up phones and tablets recording the entire fireworks show.

1. Stand in the back, it's annoying to everyone behind you having your bright screen glowing in their face

2. Youtube probably has 65,813 videos of the same fireworks show if you really want to watch it again. Put down your recording device and enjoy the moment.

I am easily annoyed :D

Completely Agree!

YES! This annoys me way more than someone stopping abruptly in front of me. Actually I dont think someone stopping abruptly in front of me is a big deal. But a group of ppl (4+) walking side by side? Totally unnecessary and rude!!! :furious:

And yes, holding kids on your hip/eye level instead of on the shoulders would be ideal. I too think that there should be a special section for parents who want to do this with their kids. Lump them all together. Problem solved. :teeth:

(1) I know people will complaint about strollers, but being a parent who has had a stroller here is my 2 cents:

- Treat the walk ways like a road - walk on the right side. Keep your stroller on the right hand side, it allows better flow for pedestrian traffic. If you need to get to the other side most people will let you cross in front of them.

(2) Littering - Don't be lazy, toss your garbage in the garbage can.

(3) Spitting - You're filthy

There are lots of things that annoy me...but of course, when in WDW, NOTHING ever annoys me enough to truly ruin the day or the trip.

1. Ipad and phone users on dark rides or during night time parades and fireworks.
2. Flash photos on dark rides.
3. Light up toys/ears/necklaces on dark rides or during nighttime shows parades fireworks.
4. Line cutters
5. Last minute folks who show up before a parade and try to horn in your spot.
6. People being mean to others.
7. Teens cutting up at HM/ToT with the fake screaming.
8. Service dogs in the park that aren't service dogs (that pavement is HOT on those poor unprotected paws)
9. Drunk and disorderly behavior
10. Kids put up on shoulders during shows/parades/fireworks.
11. People feeding the animals...for that matter, people simply NOT following rules.
That pretty much sums it up except...
12. Smokers that smoke outside of DSA's and smoke wherever they please. That includes the parks and resorts!

I see a lot of things in the parks that annoy me but I usually don't dwell on it or else I'd just have a bad attitude... the one thing that I almost lost it over was riding TOT and a girl filmed the entire thing... WITH HER IPHONE FLASHLIGHT ON. The entire ride was lit up and we could see everything because of her. It completely ruined the ride experience

The entitlement.

After a long day in the park we were second in line at the bus stop. The guy in front of us turned around and asked us to step back because he was "holding" a spot for ten more people. Yep, ten more people. I said nothing and didn't move. A few minutes later they all showed up and crowded in front of us.

I did turn around and ask the couple behind us if they wanted to join the others ahead of us too. They laughed and said yes but they were waiting for their party of thirty to join them.

I would have to say Strollers are the most annoying.

Don’t get me wrong they have a right to be in the park but I wish the people that have them would think a little more about the fact that you are at one of the busiest places in the world. The crowds somedays have can be wall to wall and some of these strollers can be the size of a small car.

The two biggest issues I have with strollers actually isn’t even about the strollers it is about the people don’t us them appropriately;

1.The people steering them usually don’t know how to control them. They think it is okay to bump you on your heels as you are walking. They think it is okay to try to squeeze them in between people because they want to get to Toy Story or Seven Dwarfs first. I am not saying don’t bring them but realize you are pushing a car in front of you and your kids are inside this thing and it is not a battering-ram! It is a stroller. Don’t bump people because the crowd isn’t moving, don’t run into people because you think you can squeeze through that little hole in the crowd.

2.Strollers at parade sitting. Yes you have a stroller but your kids are running around and the stroller is empty. Does it really need a front row seat for the parades? If you are holding seats I think that is fine but as soon as the parade is going to start move the stroller to the walkways.

I know a lot of people are very good with their strollers but some people are evil! When you are standing at rope drop at 8am and a stroller is bumping you every 5mins before the gates open and then they proceed to bump everyone in front of them so they move out of the way. Not cool!

Have some respect for the people around you and take your time. Everyone is going to get into the park. I can stay the same for some people without strollers too. Respect the strollers around you and don’t jump over it but you are still allowed your personal space.

Replace "stroller" with "ECV" and you are spot on.

1. Spitting, it's gross. I saw a guy a spit up a huge loogie, heard it hit the ground, nasty.
2. Of course the filming of rides, shows, etc. with Ipads. Hate it
3. Undisciplined children. Kids should have fun, but running around screaming, touching random strangers in line, climbing on things, etc. should not be part of it. Control your little monsters! Err, I meant precious snowflakes. :p
4. Strollers used as bantering rams (also bus size strollers, seriously why would anyone need a stroller that big?) & EVCs with people who either do not know how to drive them or just don't care that they are running over people's feet & children. Both have happened to us. I had a woman, with a double seated bus size stroller, repeated hitting me in the back of my legs in a blocked crowd that was going nowhere soon. Did she think by hitting me I could magically make the cm let us all go or maybe it would make be able to fly above the crowd, thereby giving her an extra 5 inches forward? Also the EVCs, my DH has had his feet ran over more than once, no apology, & my DD almost got backed over by some guy who was trying to back up in a bottlenecked crowd. He kept coming even after I started yelling. I had to grab her & pull into me (on my feet, there was no where else for her to go) to save her. :crazy2:

Mostly I do try & let things go & not let them bother me. My DH is much better at that than me, but I'm working on it. I try to remind myself when something annoys me that I'm sure I've annoyed other people in the parks before by doing something that didn't seem a big deal to me but was to someone else.

In regard to the spitters...I wonder if any of them have challenged Gaston? He is a champion at that, you know.

Strollers are only a pain when people don't park them the right way--you know, like in the middle of a street. Also, I once saw a guy rent a stroller for the sole purpose of lugging his stuff around. He didn't even have a kid!

Selfies are a big pain in the rear. If I want a photo taken of myself, I'll ask someone else to do it. People pause to take random ones in busy areas, which is a total pain and goes to show how entitled the younger generations really are.

Dirty tables at QS restaurants are a pet peeve of mine.

Last but not least, the slow-moving hand-holding couples can be a pain. Maybe I'm just cynical since I haven't found the right person yet, but they do tend to move slowly and be overly affectionate, as though their love is so great that they have to broadcast it to the entire world. Get a room, folks.
