WHY do people choose or NEED annoying ringtones for texts?

I am sitting here at work (we are all on break), and I am being TORTURED by three annoying ringtones... not for voice calls, but for texts... so I am hearing them over, and over, and over...

One is a firetruck. Imagine an annoying firetruck. With honking. Now, imagine it 50 times.

Another is Single Ladies... a little snip of Single Ladies... by Beyonce.

The third is some sort of high pitched alarm. EEEK EEEK EEEK EEEK. Every fifteen seconds. EEEK EEEK EEEK EEEK.

:furious:

If it is an office setting anything more than a single note audio tone is a bit much but I consider it unprofessional to not have your phone on vibrate while at work.

See, that is the thing... it's really relaxed here.

One of my co-workers has different ringtones for each of her friends and some are so not work appropriate songs. If it rings and and she is not at her desk she comes running over and says, "OMG I didn't think it was that loud", um it is that loud everytime it rings and since you choose not to lower the volume, change the ringtone or put it on vibrate it will continue to be that loud.

I always put my on vibrate at work, it is so unprofessional not to do that or have it on a low normal ring.

Our organization has a policy in the Employee Manual that cell phones must be set to vibrate in the office (even for breaks)...You might want to spearhead something similar.

You're on the Disboards...AT WORK?

My son would love the firetruck one. Not every 5 seconds, though.

My phone is always on silent during work or school. On some phones, even the "vibrate" setting is too loud and annoying.

LOL my text alert is Worf saying "Captain Incoming Message" it's the funniest thing.....my picture message alert is the XFiles theme song and my voice mail alert is the vintage Star Trek communicator noise. LOL My phone stays in my desk drawer in my purse, I'm sure it's audible but I'm having a "conversation" via text I put it on vibrate.

If my phone was on my desk and on vibrate, it would be MUCH more annoying than a ring tone. It sounds like dental drilling! I always have to remember to never set the phone on a hard surface, or it will make the most awful noise.

I hate song ring tones for texts. Especially because most people have text conversations. You never just get one text message most of the time, they continue for quite awhile. I don't want to hear the same three notes of a song over and over and over.

OMG this reminds of something hilarious at the grocery store last week. I was browsing the produce and the woman next to me kept getting texts. Everytime her phone would loudly declare...."It's a booty call, b,b,b,booty call".:rotfl2::rotfl2: and it had to be on the loudest setting. :lmao: She didn't seem to notice what she was advertising. She would just calmly glance at her phone and continued to choose her veggies. :rotfl:

Haha oh Im definately one of those people with the annoying text ringtone. Mine is the noodle dance from PB& J Otter and its always up super loud!! Anyone remember that? :goodvibes

I'm sure mine's annoying, too (it's Dave Grohl yelling, "Hey!", taken from a Foo Fighters concert in Nashville a couple of years ago), but I never left the ringer on when I worked in the office. Elsewhere, most of my texting is conversational-type texting that can go on for hours especially with one of my friends, so if I get a text from him, the phone goes on vibrate immediately so it doesn't drive everyone insane.

OMG. I need that ringtone. :rotfl2: I forgot all about that until you just mentioned it. Noodle use your noodle! Lmao

Okay, please share where you downloaded those from! Please? ::teleport:

DD13 was just telling me last night that my ringtone was boring, and my text alert was even more boring. (actually she said it was the "boringest thing ever" and I told her there was no such word as "boringest," but I digress. :lmao:) It would be great if, instead of boring, I could be embarrassing!

But I only want to be embarrassing enough for a 13 year old. Not "NSFW" level embarrassment!! LOL!!

Phonezoo.com, I use it to make my ringtones and one night I was bored and surfing thru other tones and found those. I was soooooooooooo excited, I love getting pix/flix messages. LOL

At work we all have iPhones with the default text alert. If we hear it, everyone looks at their phone.

i generally have my phone on vibrate when i'm at work....altho that can be pretty loud at times, if it's on a desk lol.

my text ringtone is from a show i watch, it's a man saying "This isn't funny, Dean! The voice says I'm almost out of minutes!" :lmao: cracks me up everytime!
