I called my AAA travel agent yesterday and told her that I wanted to change my dates. I wanted to move them up a day earlier (from 9/23 to 9/22) and she said "ARe you doing this for free dining? I said of course, free dining is going to be offered and I want to have my ressie ready. She almost refused to change it - she said that she had called disney and they were tellling her nothing was going to be offered. I said I don't care - change my ressie - she made me so mad. I think I am going to have to change AAA offices.

Some folks just don't want to do anything beyong the minimum or go to any extra trouble for anyone. Or they just don't have the ability to hold back their grouchiness or tiredness. It's always better to say "I'll see what I can do and call you back." rather than say you can or you can't. I guess that's why when we go to Disney World we are just so excited/happy/surprised to see the CM's go beyond the call of duty or making your trip special for no other reason than to make YOU pleased and happy.

And that's why you're so excited and happy to actually walk into one of the parks on the first day of your vacation because all of that crud you have to go thru just to GET there!

Have a great trip!!!

So true. Just a note to the OP, make sure you won't wind up being charged a cancellation fee - some AAA offices do that ..If that is the case, speak to the manager and ask for a different agent.

OT, bexareaglecheryl, I love your sig! I will try to remember that every time I feel stressed! Thank you!

That is exactly what I did. I was a little concerned about the TA I was using for my upcoming Sept. trip. I usually book everything myself (I like the control over my ressie), but the savings was substantial with AAA. So I went ahead and booked. This TA didn't have a Disney clue. I think she had to call me back three times so she could get answers to basic questions. I got my paperwork but with no information on what needed to be done with it. Called her for some direction and never received a call back for two days. So I just called AAA back, got a GREAT TA who had extensive Disney knowledge (and she happens to be a HUGE Chip and Dale fan, too). So I had to fax Disney to request an office/TA change. I do feel much more comfortable with the agent I'm dealing with now.

Yeah, see about changing offices, or at least Agents.

"My" AAA TA said they aren't being allowed to say anything yet, and that Disney keeps going back and forth. But at least she didn't claim Disney says it won't be offered...

I would have told her then and there to CANCEL the reservation. I am sorry but they get PAID for this and if they don't like doing it, they need to find a new job. (And I am not a firm beliver in the "free dining" posts. Plus having this reservation does nothing to assist you in actually getting the free dining. If yoiur resort doesn't have "free dining promo" avaialble for your dates, you are outta luck!)

(Why does anyone use AAA???? Based on these boards I won't ever use them!)

I can't even fathom why the agent would give you an attitude about switching dates. It's not her business why you are changing dates- it's not a big deal- it would take her like 5 minutes to call Disney and switch it. Trust me.. not all AAA agents are like this :)

I was soo angry at my AAA TA that as soon as I found a comparable rate directly through disney I switched! I had my trip booked for about 6 months with AAA and went back and cancelled. Of course, I booked my Disney trip first! I saved $2 and a lot of worries I had!

I agree. I used my local AAA TA before, and it was a nightmare. After reading of the negative experiences others here and on other boards have had with AAA TAs, I will never give them a chance again, regardless of the location or ta. It's not worth the hassle/risk, in my opinion.
