Did anyone else see this ticker on GMA today? I know he has been ill for close to a year now but the ticker seemed to say that he won't be coming back to the group. Does anyone have any info on this?

Oh no!!! :guilty:

I didn't hear anything about this, and I love the Wiggles - what a great bunch of men!!!!!

I will keep him in my prayers - I'm so sad to hear this.

Please keep us posted if you hear anything.

Maybe he wants to devote time to a solo/adult career? I know he's been singing "adult" stuff and even had a gig in Las Vegas. I hope his health is ok.

I heard on the radio this morning that he is leaving the group, due to "serious health issues"

I found this on the BBC News site. :(

Ill singer 'to leave The Wiggles'

The Wiggles have become a global phenomenon
Australian children's entertainers The Wiggles could be about to lose one of its members according to press reports.
The foursome, who are among the country's highest earners and broadcast around the world, have called a press conference for a "major announcement".

It is expected this will confirm the departure of Yellow Wiggle, Greg Page, 34, who has missed concerts since a hernia operation last December.

Page has been experiencing lethargy and fainting spells for some months.

The group's publicist, Dianna O'Neill, told The Sydney Morning Herald that doctors had not been able to identify Page's illness.

Global franchise

"We don't know what's wrong with him - he's had a lot of fainting spells, he's had a lot of tests done to work it out," she told the paper.

"I spoke to him this morning and he said 'Yes, I'm tired, but the doctors haven't put a name to it yet, they just don't know'."

Page helped found The Wiggles in 1991 after he and two other members met while studying early childhood education at Sydney's Macquarie University.

The Wiggles were Australia's top-earning entertainers last year, ahead of AC/DC and Nicole Kidman.

The concerts and shows, which also feature a cast of characters including Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog, had a gross income last year of Aus$50m (£19.89m).

The group has franchised its enormously popular recipe to several non-English speaking countries, including Taiwan.

The Wiggles are shown in the UK on Nick Jr.

When I read the title of the post, I thought for sure it would be more of an "outing" announcement...so many lately. Honestly, does it really matter what an entertainer's persuasion is? I understand they're public personas but IMO, everyone deserves a private life.

While I'm happy to state I've never had to experience the Wiggles (i've done my time w/Barney for many long years); you've got to hand it to an entertainer who can capture a child's imagination:thumbsup2 .

Hope he'll have a speedy recovery.

Sorry to read this news. My younger DD was crazy about The Wiggles when she was younger. We went to one of their concerts, and all the kids had such a good time.

That is so sad. The Wiggles won't be the same without his beautiful voice, but the most important thing is that he take care of himself and get well.

I'm so sad this morning reading this. We are HUGE Wiggles fans in my house. I hope his health improves, and SOON.

I'm wondering if it's more of an emotional exhaustion or depression- he's been going non stop with the Wiggles since he was 19!

I know Greg is married with two children, so I'm kind of thinking it's not an 'outing.'

I'm so sorry to hear this about Greg. :(

Our kids are Wiggle fans too!

I do hope that there is something his doctors can do for him. I had no clue he was ill.

Awwww... he's my favorite Wiggle!! Hope they find out what it is soon. The "not knowing" is a very difficult situation to deal with.

Another Wiggles family fan and am so sorry to hear about Greg :worried: . How frightening this must be for Greg and his family. Hope he receives speedy diagnoses, the best care possible and has a complete recovery.

His health is most important. Maybe after he's better, he'll rejoin the group.

Somebody on this board told me (and then I read it on the Wiggles Board) that Sam Moran, one of the backup singers, has taken Greg's place on the tours he's missed. And that he does a great job. He wears the yellow jacket in the Hot Potatoes DVD, and is Prof. Singa Lotta Songa in the Sailing Around the World DVD. So, at least the Wiggles aren't quitting altogether, although Greg certainly makes them special with that voice of his. I still want to see them on tour if they swing by Portland next year.

Just saw this on Comcast:

SYDNEY, Australia - The lead singer of the hugely popular children's group The Wiggles announced Thursday he will stop performing because of illness.

In a video-recorded statement, Greg Page said he had been diagnosed with a chronic condition called orthostatic intolerance.

"It's not a life-threatening condition by any means, but it is one that's going to be with me for the rest of my life," said Page, 34, who is known for bright yellow T-shirt. "It means that I'll no longer be able to sing and dance as I want to, and as a result I've decided to stop performing with The Wiggles."

Orthostatic intolerance is a little-understood disorder that causes dizziness, fatigue and nausea.

Page, who helped found The Wiggles in 1991, handed his yellow T-shirt over to his understudy, Sam Moran, who has been performing with the group for more than a decade as a backup singer and dancer.

"I'll miss being a part of The Wiggles very much, but this is the right decision because it will allow me to focus on managing my health," Page said.

Page has been battled health troubles since undergoing a double hernia operation last December. He withdrew from the group's U.S. tour in June after suffering repeated fainting spells and bouts of lethargy.

His fellow band members said they were sad and disappointed by the news at a media conference in the western city of Perth, where they were set to launch an Australian tour.

"It's very surreal that Greg's not going to be with us, very sad," said Blue Wiggle Anthony Field. "I know Greg loved doing the shows, it's just that he can't physically do it anymore."

Field, Page and the group's Red Wiggle, Murray Cook, met while studying early childhood education at Sydney's Macquarie University. They enlisted their fourth member, Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt, and The Wiggles were born.

The group was rated by Business Review Magazine as Australia's top-earning entertainer last year, ahead of actors Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. The four men in brightly colored T-shirts, accompanied by a cast of characters including Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog, grossed $39 million last year.

The group has franchised its enormously popular recipe to several non-English speaking countries, including Taiwan.

That is very sad that Greg will be leaving The Wiggles. Both of my kids have been huge fans, and we've seen them in concert twice. The most recent was this past September (or maybe it was late August), right after Greg left to go home. We saw Sam as the yellow Wiggle, and he was actually quite good, and the young kids didn't even know the difference. I, however, missed Greg. Wishing him the best as he takes care of himself. He has spent so many years entertaining our children, it's time for him to focus on himself and his family.
