Announced as you board

I was on the Wonder and the Dream several years ago. Each family was announced as they boarded the ship. Does that still happen?

Yes, this is a standard part of boarding any of the Disney ships.

After several cruises, I now enjoy thinking up fake names to give the announcer, all to embarrass my family.

Yes, they do, and yes, it was underwhelming for us, too. It wasn't the big moment I'd read about at all, just a quiet announcement & a little bored, half-hearted clapping as we walked in.

Oh my gosh i love this may have to do that to our family, lol, maybe disney character names?, I'm thinking the Incredibles family, lol.

Yes...although my DH, DD and I all have different last names so I always choke when it's time to give one. Why have I never just said "NumberOneDisneyfan?" Argh.

I've given our first names.

Usually one of the crew member walks you down a bit and sees if you have any pressing questions.

I get choked up. As soon as I hear our family announced my vacation has begun.
I leave the world behind.:flower3:

Noooooo, that's not nearly embarrassing enough in terms of what I'm going for. The Choakenpuke family. The Dungbottoms. The Clammyhands.

Other than blatant profanity, vulgar anatomical references, and of course, anything bigoted or prejudicial, those announcers will say almost anything you tell them, I think.

No, they won't. Or maybe only some of them. I asked to be announced as the "We Remembered Our Passports This Time" family and was declined.

I am pretty sure they clamped down on announcing "off the wall" names. People were coming up with some really out there ones.

Well, I can tell you first-hand that "Clammyhands" worked. Maybe I just got lucky.

High hopes for "Choakenpuke" next Feb. Or, as it was spelled in the Slavic before it was Americanized, "Cžokínpujčzk"

Yes, and on our 10th cruise we decided to toss it up a bit -- so introduced ourselves as the Jack Skellington family -- and they announced it that way. They didn't catch it at all! :rotfl2:
