After clearing the snow from our driveway the dreaded snowplow guy came barreling down the street. However, he slowed down as he came into our circle, and TURNED HIS PLOW AWAY FROM OUR DRIVEWAY! I wouldn't have believed it unless I had seen it. It's a miracle! I'm more than ready for our upcoming cruise.

Are you having the same problem as me? After spending all day shoveling our drive way and mind you i've never lived in the snow before and i'm all by myself, my husband is in the USAF and is Korea for a year, anyway after spending all day shoveling I woke up the next morning and a snow plow had shoved all of the snow from the street in front of my driveway and mailbox. Oh I was furrious! I didn't have time to move the snow from my driveway entrance because I was bringing my dd6 to school. I had to put my truck in 4wd and gun it over 3-4 feet of snow. I have a 4x4 Suburban with snow tires and got stuck! I was so upset! Thankfully it only took a couple of minutes with the shovel to get me out. Well, to make a long story short I couldn't believe they would put all the snow from the street in front of our driveways. It was a rude awakening for someone who grew up in So. Cal. Im not even sure if this was what you were talking about plutospup but, I just wanted to share my story with someone who might sympathize.

Hey makaylee its one of the few joys that poor plow drivers have
Some municipalities have the plows that have the blades that are under the truck and swing up by driveways, but it does slow things down.
Snow, driveways and plows are a fact of life up here. The snow always gets put to the right side of the driveway when I shovel/snowblow so it doesn't end up in the mouth of our driveway.

Think of Castaway Cay as you shovel. It DOES help

Ah yes the white sand.

I think when they teach snow plow drivers the proper technique they are told to be sure and leave as much sand as possible at the ends of SHOVELED driveways. Our neighbor across the street never shovels his until the plow goes by and they never seem to leave any in front of his drive. Tisn't fair.

Grumbo, you're too funny! Next time i'm shoveling I'll picture white sand and think happy thoughts. I tried to buy a snow blower but during christmas we had the storm of the century here so all the stores sold out. I happened to be in california at the time (Disneyland) and when I got home it was too late.

We must have a new snowplow guy for our neighborhood. Last week he got every single mailbox but one on our street! It looked like carnage, driving down the road, split posts, smashed posts, even the Rubber maid indestructable kind on the ground! LOL! At least the city comes & fixes them...

The guy who put ours back up said they're gonna send this new guy back for training! They've never had to fix so many on any one street before.... It was kind of funny ( now that they're fixed...) Maybe HE was thinking about Castaway Cay while he was plowing? It is distracting!

Let's see how we do after the big storm coming!

some newbies may not know how I had to put a hit out on the psychotic snowplow driver!
So far his replacement has not had too much to work with, we did come home from the cruise to a four foot embankment but that may have been a coincidence. The real test will be in the morning after we get all the snow tonight. Hey if I have to ... I will make a call again this year.... oh uncle Dominick...............................

We have a snow plow maniac and a sidewalk troll (man in a strange caged vehicle) that give us 2 walls of snow to plow through. It's almost as if we are defending a fort with our two fortified walls. AND, you folks getting the snow in PA, we're getting it tonight into tomorrow up here in Vermont (where the groundhog is ever-ignorant of the old myth). Sigh...

Hey guys, at least your snow plow comes down your street. We live on a small street and we'd be lucky to see a snow plow at all. Took them 4 days before they made it down our street last March 2003 when we got nailed.

Were they going to send him for training to make sure next time he gets them ALL??? LOL

I live on a cul-de-sac, so when the plow comes around, he has a running start and drops it all in front of my mailbox and driveway,,I make sure when I'm snowblowing my driveway, I put the snow on my right side, so he doesn't put it all BACK in my driveway when he comes around again...
Well, off to work finally after 1.5 hours of snowblowing..I hope they did our parking lot at the office!!!

Our village has ordinances that you could be fined for doing that. Just because if everyone blew it out into the street the plow might as well not bother.

Ann I'll be thinking of you this weekend. I'll be at the Wilderness Lodge for a week for Spring Break. I plan on sitting by the pool with a drink in my hand while DD is swimming around. I'll be thinking of you up there!

no, no, no, Mark, ... that' s not what I meant...If I snowblow to the left of my driveway and the next plow comes around and gets closer to where the sidewalk actually is, I figure I'm just giving them more snow to put back in my driveway... so I snowblow it over to the right side of my driveway so it's on my garden...

The first plow around makes a small pathway up & down the street, the next time they come around they widen it a little bit more

Hey Suzie! I'm jealous, it's snowing AGAIN and is supposed to continue through tomorrow afternoon... UGH!!!

Jeanny, you crack me up! They were probably mad he didn't do 100% damage!

That plow guy even got my neighbor's mailbox that he boasted to be the "indestructable" kind. He paid over $200 for it & the town snow plow driver just drove right over it & mowed it down. My neighbor's wife thought her husband was going to cry when he saw it flattened on the ground! He was so proud of it! Since that snowstorm, they must have given our street an experienced driver, as I am happy to report there has been no more mailbox carnage since then!

I wish we could use a snow blower on our driveway. It's a little over a 1/4 mile long, so we are VERY dependent on our own plowguy, who is great- thank goodness. Hopefully tomorrow will be the last storm of the year. We can't wait for the 4/17 cruise coming up. It's helping us deal with this late NE snow!
