Hello there:)

Dh & I (and our 4 kids) will be at WDW for a week, and one of those days we'll celebrate our 11th Anniversary:hug:. Any cute suggestions on how to make it special (again our kids will be with us) or even a small surprise I can arrange for him? We've been there before, but I'm drawing a blank on ideas, except for maybe ordering a cake or something while at dinner.
Thanks for reading!

Well being in Disney is a great way to celebrate but other than that make sure you get anniversary pins! They are so nice my parents got them for their anniversary trip. You could always go to a really nice restaurant (like the one in Italy it's romantic looking and kid friendly) and arrange for a small 'happy anniversary' cake to be delivered to your table just call Disney and ask about it! Their cakes are so good and worth the money!

whatever night or day you want to celebrate your anniversary and if you have reservations for somewhere, just let Disney know of two ways, one when you check in or when you make your reservations for your dinner, let them know you are celebrating your anniversary. Most restuarants will do something for you that is very nice. When we went 2 years ago, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary, so when we made our reservations at Crystal Palace, my husband told them about it. When we got to the table, they had a heart on the table made out in mickey mouse confetti and we got a card that was signed by all the characters; the kids loved it too as we were also eating with characters for that meal. At Boma my in-laws told them that they were celebrating their 30 year anniversary and they brought them out a plate with several pieces of chocolate on it and in chocolate sauce in the middle it had Happy Anniversary; I think they also got a card that was signed by the staff in different laungages.

Both great ideas, thanks so much! When I call about a cake, I'll definitely mention the occasion...I'll check out the Italian restaurant, that wouldb e really nice:love: and I didn't even think of pins, nice!

Find a resturant at Epcot that everyone will enjoy ... that may be a challenge but consider the Japanese stakehouse where they prepare the food right in front of you and the chef puts on a show. Then .... and this is the very hard part ... book a surprise Illuminations Cruise. You need to call WDW reservations (or check for a thread here on the Boards). The secret is to call first thing in the morning on the very day they start taking reservations for the day you want ... it used to be 90 days in advance ... but you have to do your homework.

You can then tell the family ... we'll have a nice dinner then go out and find a place to stand and watch the fireworks and lightshow. Little will they know that you won't be standing ... you'll be sitting on a boat out in the lake with a better than front row seat!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy POP Century it is a fun place. And Happy Anniversary :cool1:

Ooh, I like that idea, I hope I can pull it off! Thanks:) And thanks for the reasurrance on POP, it looks like a lot of fun.

I second the Illuminations cruise. I surprised my parents for their anniversary the same way. It was a little pricey, but definitely worth it for a special event.

We just went in December and celebrated our 15th:love:, but I'm a bad mommy I left the kids at home:lmao:

We told them upon check in and I was given 2 carnations and Happy Anniversary balloons.

I had a cake waiting on us, but they had the heat on in the room and melted my first cake. Thankfully they replaced it, but it wasn't near as cute.

I got balloons one other day during the whole melted cake incident.

We both wore our "15 EAR" buttons and LOTS of castmembers congratulated us. It was fun getting the attention.

I walked in a store in DTD and the greeter said, "Hey! You got a phone call". I was like huh but I followed him. He picked up the phone, dialed a number and then handed the phone to me. Mickey Mouse was on the other end singing Happy Anniversary to you. :wizard:Magical...I tell ya...Magical...:cloud9:

I LOVE Disney magic. So I would wear your buttons and act like your honeymooning all over again. Either buy little surprises from the gift shop or if he's not "all that Disney" buy some little things to take with you to surprise him. I had thought of love notes on Mickey Mouse heads, but never got around to it. We had a few romantic meals and several romantic moments. But most of all steal a kiss here and there, hold hands and act like kids in love.

Have fun!!!

We went without the kids for 4 days in '08 for our 8th anniversary since we never had a honeymoon;) But since it was technically a week after, we never thought to say anything or even ask for any buttons or anything like that.

Thanks for all the tips, I have a list going, and if one plan doesn't work out, I'll have other ideas to fall back on. Anxiously awaiting the 90th day so I can try and book Illumniations cruise!!! :wizard:

Hi Everyone,

These are all great ideas! I've checked out a lot of the cakes on another thread on here, and they're gorgeous! I think the mini wedding cake idea is also really sweet. Disney also had packages in which you can have a wine and chocolates delivered to your room but they seem a little pricey for what it is, so maybe you'd want to make up your own and have it shipped there ahead of time?

My boyfriend and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary together in June and we booked a trip to Disney together in May (we chose May because we throught it'd be less crowded) He's also graduating from school and it's our first trip to Disney together, so a lot to celebrate! Even though our anniversary isn't until June, can we still get buttons in May? Also, are they just reserved for married couples?

Thanks for your help! :-)
:goodvibes

I have almost the same question as Sunshine - we'll be going in April as our anniversary trip but our actual anniversary isn't until June. He can't get away in June because of work. This trip is our 20th anniversary present to each other. We went to Disney on our honeymoon. I had wanted to do something on our actual anniversary but...

So is it cheating to say it's our anniversary when that's actually 2 months away? We won't be coming back for a few years and 20 is a nice round number...

Just wanted to update that I was able to book the illuminations cruise this a.m.!!:yay: I didn't even know I could do this until it was suggested in this thread ( Ive only been to wow 2x as an adult). They're even going to decorated it for me!!:goodvibes. I'm so excited! Thanks again for all the creative suggestions!

Btw, Mixie, IMO it wouldn't be cheating since the purpose if the trip is your anniversary! Congrats on 20 years:)

wonder if you can get the aniversary buttons on disney cruises

Just ask at the Guest Relations desk. On our last cruise, the CM at guest services was so nice and he gave us all of the buttons available on the ship when my husband asked him if there was anything "Hanging around" for my scrapbook. There were birthday and anniversary buttons.

We are going to be celebrating our 20th Anniversary Thursday at Disney World. I wanted to surprise my DH also. So I saw an ad for the Disney Florist on All Ears. So I called them and have arranged a fun Mickey and Minnie LOVE themed basket (with champagne among other things) to be delivered and set up in our room while we are at the park. He has NO clue. I am SO proud of myself for keeping it a secret and figuring something unique for him. I spoke with the florist and explained my budget. They worked with me to figure out something he will be totally blown away with!! Hope you have a great Anniversary and figure something awesome for your honey!! :lovestruc

No Suggestions....
only that my family arrives in WDW 3 days after our 9th year Wedding
anniversery.ANd this wil be our first trip here.:yay:

Congrats to everyone celebrating anniversaries!!!

We're going in April and will there there for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Since we're bringing our 2 kids, I have arranged a nice dinner at Boma on the actual night of our anniversary for just me and DH. We're going to drop the kids off for 2 or 3 hours at the child care center at AKL- Simba's Clubhouse. This way we can enjoy a nice dinner, maybe stroll around the grounds of AKL and just spend some time together.
Hey, since we're staying at AKL anyway- maybe we'll be able to sneak back to our room for a bit. ;) Do you think the folks at Simba's Clubhouse would notice anything suspicious if we picked up the kids wearing different clothes than when we dropped them off? :rotfl2:

You can celebrate when ever you want to. No one will ask for proof that it is what ever event you are celebrating. My 40th birthday is in May, Our 15th anniversary is in September and my son's 9th birthday is in December. We will be celebrating all of these events (at different meals and on different days) on our September trip. Have a great time and Happy Anniversary!
