Anniversary Weekend on the DxDP (Completed)

Changed my Reservation for 8:35. Checked in at 8:20. Sat down at table at 8:30.

Server was Lee. She was attentive but nothing extraordinary.

Cornbread and butter- I like cornbread (all bread really). The cornbread flavor was sweet (which I like) but it was a little dry. My basket had corner/end pieces so this may have been a factor. I just had one square.

9EBD52A7-740F-466E-A76C-7AE4FAB5131B-28268-000031761E234ADE.jpg

French Onion Soup - This was great. A lot of onion soup tastes like beef broth with a little onion because they don't let it simmer enough. This was excellent.

Grilled Tenderloin Medallions served with "Mac & Cheese", crawfish beignet, and red wine demi-glacé - Filet was very good. It was tender with no fat at all (I'm picky) and cooked perfectly rare but clearly left to rest as it should so not bloody. Pasta was a little low in salt and I would have preferred a little more cheesiness but overall it was good. The crawfish beignet was ... not good. It was spicy (which I don't really like) but it had large chunks of jalapeño which a lot of people wouldn't like not just picky ones like me. It was also kind of mealy. Finally, and worst of all, it was very fishy. As soon as I cut into it, I could smell it. I didn't try the asparagus.

Bread Pudding with Rum Raisin Ice Cream and Bananas Foster Sauce - I got this to go and requested no ice cream but they still put it in. The sauce was separate. The bread pudding was cold. I prefer it warm and maybe this was because I had it to go. Alone the bread pudding was a little bland but I loved it with the ice cream which was wonderful (glad they messed up and gave it to me). The sauce was fine a little too much banana flavor (no actual banana pieces) for my taste. Overall, a solid dessert.

My overall impression of Boatwright's was good. The soup and steak were excellent. The pasta and dessert were good. Only real negative was the beignet. I was also not rushed but the courses were served one after the other with no break. The entire meal (without dessert) was 30 minutes from sitting to paying which is really fast. Part of that is me because I eat fast, especially when alone, but the meal was also not well paced.

If I was staying at POR or POFQ, I'd repeat but I wouldn't make a trip just to eat here.

That soup looks delicious. Do you think the quick pace was due to the late time of your ADR? Were there many occupied tables? Thanks for the review!

live trippie......:cheer2:, im in, and congratulations, we spent our anniversary at wdw a few years ago , and did v&A...... it was magical:hug:

The restaurant was about half empty. I would think that if my ADR had been the original 9:30 time but once I switched to 8:30 it really should not be that late to affect the pace of the dinner.

Thanks for reading.

For breakfast, we split Mickey Waffle (sorry picture was after the split) with bacon and beignets.

48519E3F-1EEB-446A-A450-C7A2F89D84C7-28721-0000324908EA8773.jpg

This was your standard Mickey Waffle which was good and Disney bacon which was not crispy so it was passable.

B0E8A15F-A0AB-463A-807F-BBCCBDCE3CC4-28721-000032490CB8EADA.jpg

The beignets were not good. They weren't the pillowy dough that they should be. They were over cooked so they were hollow and too crispy.

Reservation for 1:10. Checked in at 1:05. Sat down at table at 1:12.

Server was Ernso. He was not very attentive and took long to refill our drinks. He also didn't clear the appetizer plate when the entrees came.

Crab and Spinach Dip for Two - It has a good flavor. Not a lot of spinach which is good. Has lots of crab. We would have preferred it warm.

A061AF74-C268-4C23-A7D9-20FD2AE35BF7-29037-0000327903E294DB.jpg

Pilgrim's Feast (Turkey with Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, and Vegetables) - Turkey was moist and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were good. The stuffing was decent. We didn't try the green beans. Portion of turkey was plentiful. Overall a good dish.

7103C321-B211-43A1-A3B0-7AC5BF81B3B3-29037-0000327907B771A6.jpg

Pot Roast (with Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables) - Meat was very tender and flavorful. It was not fatty. Sashafarce wished the mashed potatoes were served on the side but I liked it as is. This was the better of the two dishes. It was very good.

D38415A5-3925-4E2A-9DCA-623E7E6AD67C-29037-000032790BB817A4.jpg

Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake (pictured on the left) - We thought this wonderful. It was warm and gooey. Loved it. It was the better of the desserts but not by much.

Johnny Appleseed's Cake (pictured on the right) - This was also really good. The cake was super moist and had a great apple flavor and chunks of apples. We loved this as well.

Overall, we really liked Liberty Tree and would repeat but it's not on the must repeat list.

The CRT review is ready but I'm having technical difficulties uploading pics to photobucket. Additionally, we cancelled Kouzzina this morning and decided to sleep in.

Siham was our server. She was EXCELLENT. She was very attentive and made sure we got exactly what we wanted all night.

5CD823E5-7FC4-4148-9E5D-2776D64B429F-30365-000033D6E7DED75F.jpg

We started with the standard bread and butter basket.

DE8CA6F5-7DBC-4C8C-83A4-67D389420540-30365-000033D6E003EFFE.jpg

Rock Shrimp Cocktail - This was Sashafarce's appetizer. There was a good amount of shrimp. In her words "It was average."

7F25B290-832E-4793-AC0E-F315EC89E16D-30365-000033D6E401F79B.jpg

Cheese Plate - Left to right this was Goat Cheese, Gouda, and Blue Cheese. I love Blue Cheese but this was a little strong. The Gouda was good. The Goat Cheese was the best. Overall though Cheese Plate #1 (there will be more) was average.

1D16D6CC-5A36-4CB6-8621-7DFAEA922CB5-30365-000033D6DD016113.jpg

Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Duchess Potatoes - We both ordered this. Sashafarce ordered hers well done and hers was cooked correctly. I ordered mine rare and as you can see from picture above it was definitely not rare. Siham promptly went back to kitchen and brought me new beef that was perfectly rare. The meat, once cooked as ordered, was excellent. The potatoes were very good but the asparagus was over cooked. We both enjoyed our entrees.

6AB6C1FD-991D-449D-9A1B-FED91E507109-30365-000033D6D9A31ED8.jpg

Chef's Tasting Trio - from left to right espresso cheesecake, vanilla bean custard, and flourless chocolate cake - Again we both ordered this. The cake and custard were really great especially if combined. The cheesecake I didn't enjoy as I am not a huge fan of coffee flavored desserts but Sashafarce thought it was good. We were both glad we got to try a little bit of everything.

0E6416D5-8F9F-4BAC-9890-1C63B706E2A2-30365-000033D6D611F768.jpg

Halloween Cake - This was given to all tables as this was a MNSSHP night. It was pretty and that's about it. It was the most flavorless chocolate cake I've ever had.

One non-food comment. We were seated in the section directly in front of the stairs. By the time we finished our appetizers, we were the only table in that entire section. We think that due to this, the princesses ignored us. We didn't see one princess all night. When we were ready to go Siham asked us and insisted she would bring them to us but as we are not character picture takers or autograph seekers we told her it was unnecessary. It was however very odd.

Overall, we enjoyed dinner. We enjoy breakfast at CRT more though. Was it worth the money food wise? No it wasn't but you pay for the experience. We like dining in the castle and, so far, it's the best table service in MK in our opinion (only one we haven't tried is Tony's).

We will definitely return to CRT (although maybe not for dinner) but it's also not on the must repeat ASAP list.

Lisa was our server. Service was not very good especially considering the restaurant was empty and our server had only two tables. She also closed off the ticket without using the gift card to add the tip as requested. She was easily confused.

My cold plate. The potato salad was great. The pretzel roll was soft and warm so very good. The rest was cold cuts and they were nothing special.

894C3980-CB81-445E-9F8E-0B9187156CEA-30647-00003408D7D075DF.jpg

My hot plate. Pork schnitzel, roasted potatoes, spaetzel, meatball, and German meatloaf. The schnitzel was my favorite thing of the meal. The potatoes, meatball and spaetzel (plain and cheese) were also good. The meatloaf tasted like warm bologna so it was just ok.

BB17234D-9D59-4C15-A8CE-5DE68A453174-30647-00003408DDB19B24.jpg

My second plate - schnitzel, potato salad and roasted potatoes.

5601D0E3-2810-4549-9078-114A12948CA0-30647-00003408DA52D773.jpg

Sashafarce's plate - Cauliflower soup, baked chicken, meatball, spaetzel, potato salad, apricot chutney, pretzel roll, and cheese spaetzel. She thought the spaetzel was good and had seconds of that. Everything else she thought was decent except the meatball which she didn't like.

D8099347-F22E-4543-AB92-922CEEA19B17-30647-00003408E042D2D8.jpg

Sashafarce's dessert - rhubarb and strawberry cake, Bavarian cheesecake, and apple streudel. She thought the cake was good and everything else was ok.

2AF3983E-38E8-49AA-AB5F-51B073330B6F-30647-00003408E2B9D199.jpg

My dessert plate - vanilla custard and apple streudel. These were both ok.

While nothing was bad (except in Sashafarce's opinion the meatball) nothing really impressed us. We would not repeat.

Shame the halloween cake at CRT wasn't good ..i'd not seen them do that before..nice idea.

I am late to the party and just caught up. Great reviews. Definitely a shame that the cake at CRT wasn't better, it is really cute!

Sorry to hear the service was lacking at Biergarten, I find it a hit or a miss there. What I wouldn't give for one of those pretzel rolls for a late night snack right now, lol.

We had an 8:30 reservation and artived a few minutes late. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated.

Jill was our server. She was very attentive and an excellent overall server. She explained the menu, made recommendations, and brought us sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary.

4300A729-DD92-4FAD-A661-2A90127D0701-31600-00003521A51F5761.jpg

Bread basket was pretzel rolls and sourdough roll. Both were great especially the pretzel bread (better than Biergarten's this afternoon).

04E56FA4-C25C-4725-85E0-5FB702292E8A-31600-00003521B899DABF.jpg

Cheese Soup - We both started with the cheese soup and it was great. Very rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice. We had tried it at food and wine and liked it but this was much better.

E50C7F1B-B62F-4EBA-B7B9-A9E5F5B383A0-31600-00003521CCE1181C.jpg

Mushroom Filet with Potato Pave (sorry for the picture as I had pushed the mushrooms on top of the filet aside before I remembered) - This was my entree and it is normally served with mushroom risotto (see picture below) but I'm not a risotto fan so I switched it to potato pave. This was wonderful. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked. The truffle butter sauce (which we ordered extra) was incredibly good. The potato pave (basically au gratin potatoes) were also really good. I loved my meal.

0AC1BBE9-0F3A-46A9-93D7-E8D1DAA158C4-31600-00003521BFC1A0C6.jpg

Strip Steak with Mushroom Risotto - Normally this comes with the potato pave (see picture above) but Sashafarce is not an au gratin potatoes fan and loves mushrooms so she switched. Her steak was still tender even though it was cooked well done. She really liked the risotto and enjoyed some of the extra truffle butter sauce. She also loved this meal.

B470E7FE-7C7D-40C1-9ECE-2B7363D1A34B-31600-00003521F302ECEA.jpg

Cheese Plate - This was my dessert. From left to right, this was Petit Agour (with fig almond cake), Beecher's Flagship Reserve Truckle (with pear jam), Goat Brie (with honeycomb) and Oregon Blue (with raisins). The Goat Brie and Blue were great. The Petit Agour was very good. The Truckle was also really good but the one I liked the least. I used the honey on all the cheeses. Cheese Plate #2 was really good.

030E0337-23BC-42D4-B8A0-9921C8798192-31600-00003521F747ADA4.jpg

Maple Creme Brûlée (sorry Sashafarce dug into it before the picture) - Sashafarce loved her dessert. I thought it was a little too maple flavored. It was however perfectly creamy and the top was crunchy as it should be.

We loved our meal here. It is the best meal we have had at Disney so far and on the must repeat list.

Our server was Guillermo and he was adequate. He took our order quickly and everything came out correctly but he didn't refill our drinks promptly.

FA1FABB2-589B-4330-B623-BBA929B03DD0-31724-00003535E2B08008.jpg

Eggs Benedict - I really love Eggs Benedict and these were good.

7B20CE85-77BC-4CC6-BD07-143302A66C33-31724-00003535E73D198E.jpg

Citrus Pancakes with Cranberries, Pecans, Mandarin Oranges, and Orange Butter with Bacon - Sashafarce enjoyed this. The pancakes were good and the bacon nice and crispy.

Breakfast was good but we probably won't return for breakfast because aren't breakfast people. We are coming back in December for dinner and to see the Christmas decorations.

Jill was our server at Le Cellier back in May and your right she is awesome!

Server - Ryoto
Chef - Yasumara

Both the server and the chef were very good. Drinks were promptly refilled and everything was cooked very well.

9CA2FCE5-C42E-439A-892A-9E1B7E9B6964-32024-0000355EA65A1D64.jpg

Assorted Tempura - This was Sashafarce's appetizer. The tempura was really good. It was light and not oily.

Steak wrapped around Green Onions - Sorry no picture. This was my appetizer. It was ok, a little lacking in flavor.

8D13DCE4-273E-412D-B5AD-994FE7156F22-32024-0000355EB101C8E7.jpg

Chicken and Shrimp with Udon Noodles and Vegetables - This was Sashafarce's entree. She enjoyed it. Everything was well cooked and she particularly liked the mustard sauce.

9FBC891E-D5E5-4A16-92E9-579721280F84-32024-0000355EA979EE56.jpg

Filet with Udon Noodles and Vegetables - This was my entree. It was good as well. I liked the white sauce the best of the three they give you (the third was a ginger sauce).

39870BBD-F016-4FD2-80A4-936874D5BF40-32024-0000355EB4412109.jpg

Chocolate Ginger Cake and Green Tea Pudding - These were both ok. The ginger cake had just a hint of ginger at the end. The pudding was more like a caramel flan than a pudding and didn't taste of green tea at all.

Overall, we enjoyed Teppan Edo but there are better restaurants in Epcot and better hibachi at home. While we might return, it's not on the must do list.
