DH and I have decided- for our first anniversary, we are going to spend a few days at Disneyland! And- he's even agreed to staying in the Disneyland Hotel! I have family in LA, so normally when we visit Southern CA, we just stay with my aunt and uncle, and just drive to DL if we make the trip there. Since this is a special occasion, we are going to splurge just this once and actually stay at the resort.

I've never stayed at the Disneyland Hotel! I've heard about it since I was a kid (which is why I chose that Resort over the other two), but never had the chance to stay there- although I've stayed at a couple of the WDW resorts.

We are trying to decide whether we are doing two days or three. I want Carthay Circle Restaurant for the day of our actual anniversary. I have never eaten at any of DL's full service restaurants. How do reservations work there as opposed to WDW?

We.did this last year for our anniversary. Be sure to have them note it on your reservations. They gave us anniversary buttons.and an autographed pic of Mickey & Minnie. I also ordered an in room celebration (pics in my signature), since I wanted it to be really special.

We did they same in room celebration last year (minus the ears, we had the bride and groom ears). I thought it was worth it.
We are going next year for our anniversary. Can't wait.
Make sure the front desk knows it is your anniversary and get buttons and wear them.

Oh yes- I know all about the buttons! I used to work at WDW. :) We play in the parks in our bride and groom mouse ears the day before leaving for our Hawaiian honeymoon.

Kristan- you are in Campbell? Holy Cow! We just moved to Silicon Valley in January- we live in Santa Clara at the moment. I go to Campbell all the time! I love the downtown area- doll shops, used bookstore, cupcakes, gelato, an awesome farmers market- it's like heaven!

Oh dear....we looked at booking the resort and are now having extreme sticker shock, especially since we are in the process of buying a house. What do you all think of the good neighbor hotels?

There are tons of great Good Neighbor hotels! I'm sure you can find one you like, and you could end up even closer to DLR than you would be at the DLH! The only thing I'd really be careful of is that you stay within walking distance, it makes all the difference! Some of the most popular are HoJos, Best Western Park Place Inn and Fairfield Inn(that would be my pick).

There is a really great thread on here already for WDW vets coming to DLR, but of course I can't figure out how to post it! Arg! But you should be able to find it with a quick search. It is just a different experience than WDW. For example, we would never dream of staying off-property at WDW, but we only stay on property at DLR when someone else is paying or we can get a killer deal.

Have a great trip!

Hey Angie Happy anniversary ! I enjoyed reading your cast member story on Mice Age. Look into the premium rooms at Candy Cane Inn, you get nice robes, breakfast delivered, ground fresh coffee, and a private shuttle. Friend them on facebook for some insider discounts.
