Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.
Friday 19th October 2007
Forecast for sunny, partly cloudy with a little rain and less humid.
Up at 7.45 - getting later. I went over to the BC Marketplace to see what was on the CS breakfast. There was omlette, muffins and not much else so I returned to the YC and we went to the lounge again. Caught the bus to Typhoon Lagoon, Ashley was having a good gossip with the driver.
Got sorted out with a locker and still waiting for the 10am opening. We had listened to the instructions on the bus journey saying start at the back of the park where it is less crowded, so we made our way to Humunga Kowabunga, the boys went on alone, they then rode the Storm Slides and couldnt get Ashley off these! The one thing John really wanted to do was swim in Shark Reef so we went there next, there was only one other family, John and Ashley went alone but after listening to the instructions I was a bit nervous about Ashley doing it, hes not a strong swimmer and the pool was 12ft deep. Lots of lifeguards on duty but I could see it in his face he wanted to get out, he joined us and John went on alone.
We went on the Falls rides and then the Surf Pool.
Ashley and I having to do all the work!
This got a bit scary after a while, as soon as the roar of the wave started people screamed out and turned their backs, I rode one or two OK, then the hat came off (returned by some kind person in front of me!) but then the specs went flying, even though I had my round the head strap on them! I scrambled about on the floor till I found them, remarkably still in one piece but badly scratched (luckily they were my old ones). John suffered badly scraped knees and elbows. We decided to Crush n Gusher before calling it a day, but the boys wanted to go back in the surf pool so we said two more waves and thats it. Big mistake, they ran off into the crowd and it was a frantic half hour before we saw them again, time was moving on and we had the Hoop de Doo show to get to. During the day we had eaten at Typhoon Tillys and had a drink at Leaning Palms. Made the mistake of getting a refillable mug which I later found out you couldnt keep with you on the rides, so returned it to the locker to only fill it up once! It was a bit of a rush to get over to Magic Kingdom by bus and catch the boat to Fort Wilderness but we made it in time.
We had a good seat although we were near the kitchens, John kept getting a surprise every time the waitress dumped the food on the table with the clatter and wondered why we had jam jars for drinking vessels - Im so glad Id read all the info beforehand and was able to let him know! Ashley about wet himself when they used a whoopy cushion on one of the jokes - why do boys love bodily function jokes! Total cost $219.94 or 8 table service credits.
Took the boat back to the MK, the pilot said the MK was open till midnight - no it wasnt not according to my notes. I was proved wrong (thats a first!!!) and John said he wanted to go in, it was approaching 10pm and we were still full of energy. Got through the gates to find Spectromagic was about to start so with only a five minute wait we got to see it, front row again.
This was about the only decent picture we got.
The castle was changing colour every few minutes.
Had to go on its a Small World for Ashley and Haunted Mansion for the rest of us, and had a look around the shops. We caught the bus back by which time it was past midnight. Ali the alligator was waiting for us on our return.
