Anniversary Trip Report at Portofino!!!!--LONG!!!!

Thanks for the fun report. That is great about your upgrade, too bad you didn't have a full week to enjoy it more fully. I hope you are able to squeeze in more trips. APs are burning a hole in your pocket afterall. Your report is making me wish we were able to squeeze in a meal at Mythos. We would have had it just been our family - sigh - next time.......

Congrats on the upgrade. When I was at the HRH in Aug my mom and her husband came up from Punta Gorda to join us for one evening. On the AM they were due to arrive, I inquired as to whether or not their room was near the elevator as my mom has trouble walking. Even though they had booked a standard garden view room, they were being given a King Suite! When I asked why this was the case, they explained that the hotel was overbooked on standard rooms due to guests extending their stays and the first thing the hotels do is upgrade folks only staying one night. So...you are getting this long story because... even though you would have liked to have stayed at the PBH more than one night, you may not have gotten the great upgrade if you did. So, it all balances out---doesn't it?

By the way, we had a great breakfast party in their suite with food (and my new $6 "travel" toaster!) that I picked up at the Super Walmart on Sand Lake. Sure beat the pickings at the Sunset Grill! And with 7 people, I think I saved some $$$.

I'm glad you had a great time even if it was short. Did you find out if they offered that marshmallow shake anywhere other than Momma Dellas maybe the gelato shop. I think i'd feel a little odd asking for one to go at what sound like upscale dinning. Is Momma Dellas only open for dinner. Thanks for your help counting the days until out trip Disney/Universal-17 night stay with 4 nights at the HRH

I asked about the marshmallow shake in Gelateria. But, they don't make them there. She told me to get it at Trattoria del Porto. I was in my swimming suit and didn't feel comfortable going into Trattoria like that so I never did end up getting to try one. The woman in Gelateria did say that you can ask for it at the hostess desk in Trattoria to get it to go.

Great trip report! What a nice surprise...getting an upgrade!What did you and your wife think about HRH? Was it as nice as RPH and PBH? I know you plan on staying there in the future and wonder if you are having 2nd thoughts because of PBH being so terrific!

We have not stayed at the HRH yet, but we thought it was very nice. From the outside it is the least attractive of the three resorts, IMO, but inside it is beautiful. We are definitely going to try it on our next long trip.

Spideyhulk24, thanks for the great trip report. Sounds like you and your DW had a great time at PBH. We will be there in 80 days for our first onsite stay. We are Plat Loews but I doubt that will get us an upgrade to club level. It wil be my first time to ride the Hulk and I hope I can find the courage! My DH and 13 y/o DD have no fear of riding the Hulk but for some reason I am scared to death of this ride! It is so imposing as you look up at it from all over the park..... Any words of advice? Hope you guys get back there bofore Aug!!

The Hulk is one of the smoothest rollercoasters I have ever been on. Because of that, all the hills and loops are not so scary - the take off is intense though! Try it once, and I bet you will go back on.

Spidey and Betty...what a great trip you had! Congrats on the upgrade too! Our trip is quickly approaching and I can 't wait!!! We are amazed at how much you were able to get done before noon! Mythos and Mama's sound good, but we just can't stay away from Boma's! Our meals, as of now, will be Unknown on Thursday, Boma's on Friday and Tchoup choup on Saturday. Maybe Margaritaville on Thursday...who knows. Anyway, WELCOME BACK!!
