DH and I are going on a 15 year aniversary trip next September. Anniversary is actually in October, but so is one of our daughters birthdays. Anyway, We are trying to decide which dining plan to get for us. Originally we decided on standard, but I'm having second thoughts.

1. We like the option of more snacks with the deluxe plan.
2. We had deluxe last time and thought it was a lot of fun, but we also had TS 3 times a day.
3. I'm kinda gonna miss the appetizer.
4. Standard dining is cheaper.
5. Snacks credits have me baffled. Can I get like nachos or fries or something filling like that to cover me until dinner?

So if it was you and your DH which plan would you choose? Why?

If it was adults only, I'd pay OOP, and basically dine at a level somewhere in between the 2 plans.
I'd do a signature dinner every night, but not the absolute most expensive meals -- Probably around $40-$60 per night for a signature dinner. ($40 would be a cheap signature dinner, just sushi and a salad at Cali Grill). I'd do a moderate priced lunch each day for $10-$25. (regardless of whether TS or CS). And I'd get a light breakfast, along with whatever snacks during the day. (For another average of $10 per day). So I'd be looking at a cost of about $60-$95 per day.. Probably averaging around $75 per day... Basically deluxe level dining, for $10-$15 less than the price of the deluxe plan.

But that's just the preference of me and my wife. If you want more expensive meals, than the DxDP can make sense.

I would probably do out of pocket if you are intending to eat breakfast and dinner only plus a few snacks. for us, deluxe is the best as we do character breakfast every morning for the girls but if it was just us andn o character meals, we would probably just do OOP as breakfast on the plan is not worth it. However if you plan on doing 3 meals, I would do the deluxe for sure.

Adults only, we go out of pocket. The best adult dining at WDW is at places not on the plan so we hit all of those -- V&A, Shulas, Bistro, Il Mulino, bluezoo, Wolfgang's The Dining Room, Portabello Yacht Club, Fultons.

Good point... if it was just me and my wife celebrating an anniversary, I'd do V&A. Might cost a lot more than the plan, but not covered by the plan.

All interesting thoughts. Thank You. V/A is out for us though. It is a little "too fancy". DH is a t-shirt and jeans kinda guy. Needless to say if we have to dress up to eat then it is so not gonna work. I'll take all your thoughts into consideration...:surfweb:

If you push to late Sept / early Oct, the Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing. That may be a really great option for an adults only trip. If you do go during that time, I would suggest taking a plan that has the most snack credits as I believe those can be used at the kiosk stations that are set up.

That said, DH and I normally do OOP when we go ourselves. We don't eat in the AM and usually only eat one big meal a day. So for us, the Dining Plans are way too much food.
