I was wondering if anyone has personal knowledge of what they do for people having an anniversary on their cruise. I heard they give you a cake at dinner. Is that all there is to be aware of? Just curious. My hubby and I will be having an anniversary on our next cruise in 2003...

My husband and I celebrated our 12th anniversary on our Magic Cruise 9/2001. I honestly have to say this was the one thing about the cruise that I was dissapointed about. Our Travel agent asked if we were celebrating anything and made a note of it. Also at guest services they had it on the record. We made our reservation for Palo that night and even mentioned it to the waiter but nothing special was done even though we were told by the travel agent Disney would do something. We had a great trip anyway and a wonderful anniversary celebration by ourselves.

I agree, my dh & I just got back from the April 6-13th Magic and DCL Reservations told us that they would celebrate our anniversary in the main dining room on Sunday night, but nothing was done. We had reservations at Palo for Monday night (our actual anniversary) and without my knowledge my dh called Palo earlier in the day and they promised they would present us with a cake that night - but nothing. Then again without my knowledge, dh called and spoke with Guest Services and they apologized and said that Thursday night at dinner (Captain's Gala), they would celebrate our anniversary in the dining room, but again nothing. Finally on Friday night (our last night), after dinner & dessert, and after 90% of the people left the dining room (including the people at our table), our server came to our table with a cake for us and sang. They were surprised that we didn't take the cake with us, but there was no way we could. We had to have our luggage out in front of our cabin 15 minutes later since we'd be disembarking the next morning. If the cake had been given to us earlier in the week, we could've enjoyed it all week. Oh well!

So my suggestion to you is let your server and dining room captain know rather than the reservations operator. They should make sure something is done.

On a positive note, we had an anniversary card slipped under our door late Thursday night from the big cheese himself (Mickey)!

On our 2000 trip, we celebrated our 34 th anniversary. The dining room staff (our head server, assistant and various other available servers) presented us with a cake and sang Happy Anniversary to us in the dining room. It was great fun and we took the cake back to our stateroom to devour at a later time.

On our 2001 trip, our 35th anniversary - we had noted on our reservation the occasion, but it was overlooked. We told our server that we were disappointed that we had not received anything for our anniversary----- so imagine our surprise when we receive a call the next morning from room service saying they had a delivery for us. It was a beautiful mirrored tray with chocolate-dipped strawberries, truffles, pastries, and a chocolate Mickey along with a bottle of champagne with a note of apology from the dining room staff. It was wonderful and made us feel so special.

Can't wait to celebrate our 36th this October.

DH and I celebrated our anniversary on the Magic in '98. We were docked in Nassau on that day and had reservations at Palos. Unbeknownst to me, DH told our stateroom hostess that it was our anniversary. We went into town that night and when we got back, we had a cute Mickey cake and bottle of champagne chilling with two souvenir flutes. On the bed there were two towel swans in the shape of a heart. A very nice end to a wonderful day! Mention your specail day to your stateroom host/hostess.
