Anniversary Ceremony on July 17th?

Hi, all. My family's planning a trip in July for Disneyland and Comic-Con, and right now we're arriving on the eighteenth. But I know that Disneyland's 55th anniversary is on the seventeenth, so we're considering pushing it up a day. But if we flew in on the seventeenth, which is the earliest day we could, I'd probably try to get us on an early morning flight. Even then, we probably wouldn't arrive around until lunch time or a little later.

Now, my main question is this: what time is the ceremony? I'm pretty certain they have some sort of ceremony on the anniversary each year. I read a few years ago the ceremony was at 10 AM, but I could have sworn I read a report from last year that said the ceremony was at 3 PM. So, main question(s) here: What time is the special ceremony? Any special things they do on the anniversary? Of course, as a super Disney fan I think it'd be fun to be there on the anniversary. But I also know it will be super crowded, and if that wasn't enough, it's also on a Saturday.

Thanks in advance. :wizard:

Right now nothing is planned. Odds will point to a rededication ceremony somewhere around 8am-10am and numerous special guests.

Nothing official has been published. However, nothing was published for the 50th either. But, there was lots of speculation that something special would occur. We got in line at about 1:30 a.m. on July 17, 2005 and approximately 3,500 fans were a head of us. I have been to DL on several DL anniversaries that nothing was going on. I remember one July 17th that the only evidence of the anniversary was a birthday button worn by the CM's. However with that said my reservations were made months ago. :tink:

Usually the rededication ceremony that they have if they don't do anything else special is in the afternoon. I have a pic from 2007 that said that says the "special celebration begins at 4:45 p.m. in Town Square." The ceremony will usually have some characters that come out & do a little dance & have a recording of Walt saying his opening day speech.
