can you order anniversary cakes or special desserts for anniversaries at any of the restaurants?

Yes, most Disney restaurants can have a special order cake for your meal. I would suggest that you call the specific restaurant and ask how they handle these orders, some will take your cake order and handle it some will ask you to call the bakery directly and order it. Whatever you do, make sure your have your seating reservation number attached to the cake order and call the restaurant more than two days in advance to make sure that they have it noted on the reservation.
Finally, check one last time when you check in at the podium, yes it sounds tedious, but Disney is a very large organization (as you well know) and sometimes different departments overlook sharing this information, a little extra effort on your part will insure a pleasant evening without any surprises.

Here's a tip that was given to me as I plan my son's 1st Birthday:

The "Celebration Cakes" offered for $12 at the various restaurants are small only ~6".

If you want something else visit the Boardwalk Bakery at the Boardwalk Resort. Alledgedly they will even deliver to the resort you're staying at or the restaurant you have reservations at.

You can have the Grand Floridian Bakery make you any kind of cake you would like. They can even recreate the top tier of your actual wedding cake if you send them a picture of it . They are amazing . They also can do the mini cakes with the white castle on top which serves about 1 person each and are $25.00. The 6 inch topper anniversary cakes they can make are $45.00... I ordered one for our anniversary and it is going to be yellow cake with chocolate mousse covered with buttercream frosting and white fondant with golden mickeys stamped on it. They are having it delivered when we have dinner at Narcoossee's. You can also have cindy's white chocolate slippers with the castle silk screned on in chocolate for $15.00. You can have these at any GF restuarant even the tea at the Garden View Lounge or you can go and pick up a cake yourself. They will not deliver to any other venue. Just call the GF and asked to be transfered to the Bakery. They need 48 hours notice. Hope this helps.
