DW and I will be celebrating our anniversary at WDW in May. We have ADRs at Jiko (we're staying at AKV with no kids :cool1: ). We've never eaten there and this was a quick trip so V&A's was full. Would this be a good place for an anniversary meal and where would you recommend us sitting if there is a more romantic spot than any other? Thanks Everybody!!!!!

I think JIKO is one of the most romantic restaurants at WDW. The lighting is dim but beautiful. They do have a wine room there that is more private but everytime we have been there, there's been a large group in it (I know they do large party dining in there). We've been lucky in that every time we have eaten here, it's been fairly quiet and almost all adults. So I'm not sure that I've noticed a certain location being more romantic than another. I think perhaps getting seated at the back (farthest from the check in desk) would be more private.

It's a great restaurant and will be good for an anniversary dinner. I don't prefer one spot over another, but would suggest sitting away from any tables at the entrance--some of the Boma noise can slip through. And as you probably already know--expect kids at the restaurant.

My DH and I enjoyed our 1st Anniversary dinner at JIKO this past August. It was WONDERFUL! I agree with PP, that the further back you are able to sit the less noise you will hear. The food was outstanding and for such a special meal the prices are reasonable (I'm from the DC area so I'm used to high piced restaurants) If for some reason you are unable to get a reservation to JIKO I also recomend Artist Point. This was the "special meal" hubby and I had for a Disneymoon. It is also very quiet/romantic(we sat at a table that overlooked the waterfall thing). Enjoy your Anniversary!!!

Another vote for Jiko as a romantic spot (and a wonderful meal). Sitting in back along the wall with the lighting that slowly changes colors during the course of the meal strikes me as a pretty romantic location within the restaurant.

We celebrated our 35th Anniversary at Jiko and really enjoyed it. We ordered our appetizers and waited until we had finished them to order our entrees. Everything was timed perfectly. The service was attentive but not disruptive to our meal. We couldn't decide what wine we wanted so our server let us try three or four before we made our selection. It was a wonderful evening and Jiko is now a must.

We ate at Jiko for the first time in December. We had an amazing, wonderful meal here. Loved the Flatbread and the lamb patis for apps. Dh got the soup which was really good. Then I got the filet and dh got the pork. Both dishes were cooked right and well presented and tasted great. I would say the filet was by far the best steak I've had in WDW. Then we did hte cheese platter which I highly recommend if you like cheeses. It was a great way to end the evening. Also do try some of the african wines they have. If you don't know what to chose ask your server. Our server was well knowledgeable about the african wines.

Just another vote for the fabulousness that is Jiko. The main dining room is quiet and the decor is beautiful. We've also been in the wine room which doesn't have the changing color coolness of the main room but is even more quiet. A lovely, serene setting with lick your plate (if only you could) good food. The cheese plate is outstanding. I usually have the filet with mac and cheese and can't get myself to order anything else because I always enjoy it so much.
For a special occasion (be sure they know) they will likely do something special. For my birthday I received a signed card from all the staff and free dessert.
In contrast I ate at Flying Fish on my last trip and although the food was wonderful the atmosphere was so hectic and loud that I didn't enjoy the overall experience that much. There were numerous crying children and babies (one who was really screaming for the whole meal - ow!) and a frenetic quality to the place.
California Grill is also an excellent choice for a special event. If you book for fireworks time you have the sweet fireworks experience and the food is fantabulous. It is busier feeling and noisier than Jiko.
I haven't had the Victoria and Albert experience yet although I hear it is the ultimate of ultimates.
Congratulations and have big fun!!!

My fiance and I love Jiko. It's a great choice for an anniversary dinner. If you're into wine, they have an amazing selection of African wines.

I think Jiko would be great for an anniversary dinner, I know it's one I would choose. We were seated in the back in a booth, and it was quiet (no loud people around us, which also helped). The service was very professional and well-timed. The lighting is low-key and I loved the bird lights. Of course the food was good, interesting appetizers and we all had the filet and enjoyed it, and the desserts were fabulous! I'd recommend the lemon curd (if its still on the menu), if you like lemon flavor and fruit.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I think Jiko is an excellent spot for celebrating your anniversary. We'll be celebrating our anniversary there in May and can't wait. The food and service are top notch. I had the best steak I've ever had there last year.

Happy Anniversary!

Just wanted to update about our anniversary dinner at Jiko.

We were seated in the wine room, which is a much quieter, private area of the restaurant. Our servers took great care of us and the meal was fantastic! DH now agrees that Jiko has the best fillet mignon in the world! The new chef has certainly kept things at the same high quality.

The wait staff signed a card for us in honor of our anniversary, and we also got a call from Mickey and Minnie to wish us a happy anniversary while we were there.

There's no guarantee on what your experience will be of course, but even without the extras, this was the best meal we've had on Disney property and we can't wait to go back.
