I feel like I'm finally on my way to eating the way I've always wanted to. Growing up we never really had junk food in the house - I considered a spoonful of peanut butter a "snack". As I got older and started choosing my own foods, I wasn't choosing wisely. Then I tried diet after diet after diet, but always felt like I needed to be able to work in the chips or the ice cream or the cake. And I know that when I did, that was the source of my guilt that would eventually bring my downfall. I'm not saying I can never have those, but I was looking to work them in almost every day. No more.

With the help of a very dear friend of mine who gave me a plan and to follow along with some great advice, and some really tough questions to answer for myself, I'm ready to begin. I also admire her because she's been there, having lost 80 pounds herself and eventually competed in fitness competitions. She no longer competes, but is running the NY Marathon this November and she blogs. www.fitarella.com if you're interested, but I warn you, she's earthy - but that's why I love her!

Anyhow, I began today, and to add a little serendipity, my Clean Diet Book along with my Clean Diet Cookbook came from Amazon today and the recipes look simple and amazing!. I'm so excited! I'll admit, even today I didn't follow the plan to a T - I'm supposed to have eaten more than I did, but truthfully I have been full ALL DAY LONG. Tomorrow I'll cut back the oatmeal to have the size and see if that helps.

Breakfast
1cup Plain oatmeal
2stp agave sweetner
cinnamon spice blend

Pomegranate Protein shake w/soy milk
1/2 banana

Lunch
2 eggs (I should only eat one yolk, but Dr. says I need lutein and yolks are a the best source)
1/4c. ricotta cheese
1 Tbsp. Romano Cheese
pear

Snack
Peanut butter fudge bars (clean recipe and so delicious! PM me if you want it!)

Green tea w/agave

Dinner
Pork loin w/garlic and rosemary
roasted brussel sprouts w/a little olive oil and salt.

Beverages - Water throughout the day.

I check in with my friend next week - wish me luck!:hippie:

Thanks Karynnix!

I weighed in today and I'm down 2 pounds from last week!:cool1:

I don't know if I can completely credit clean eating - I only started Monday and I carbo loaded with a big plate of Ravioli at the Olive Garden on Saturday night. (DH took me cuz I got a letter in the mail saying I made the Dean's List!:thumbsup2 )

But a loss is a loss and I'll take it!

And for anyone interested in eating clean, here's a link that might help. I've got to admit - I thought it would be harder. And while it does take planning, if you plan for it the food is delicious and very satisfying!

Here's today's journal

Roasted Pork Loin
nectarine

Meal 4
shrimp cocktail
grapes
celery
almond butter

Meal #5
Ratatouille (homemade)
(zucchini, onions, eggplant and tomatoes)
sirloin burger

By the way - I claimed my five pound clippie today. I started eating clean around April and weighed 166.5. I stopped, but only gained a couple of pounds back and they are gone now - today I was at 159.5

I really think it's clean eating that gets the FAT off and keeps it off!

I had to go to court this morning for a hearing for a speeding ticket. I was going 90mph in a 65 zone - NO! I don't normally speed, but my attention has been diverted this past year since I started going to school and I was overtired yada yada yada....

Anyhow, the fine had already been reduced so it was a big fat waste of my time. Now here's the difference. This is where I'd get discouraged and go grab a big fat honking muffin off the breakfast bar in the cafeteria downstairs. NO! Wait! The cafeteria is closed, so I'd get those sugary pop tarts out of the vending machine.

Not any more...like I said, I'm cleaning up my act!

FRIDAY NIGHT SNACK - POPCORN COOKED ON THE STOVE IN OLIVE OIL*

*This does follow the definition of clean eating as far as the ingredients go. However, Clean Eating Diet recommends air popped popcorn. This was my Friday night treat as a kid (we used to eat it while watching The Brady Bunch) so I've decided for this to be my treat at the end of every week that I stay on the Clean Eating Plan.
