Has anyone done this? My daughter will be 4 almost 5 when we go next March. She has done the BBB at WDW Magic Kingdom. Is it a similar experience? How far from the parks is it located? Can you get this done and still have plenty of time to tour one or both parks? Any details and personal experience would be deeply appreciated. Oh, and pictures if you care to share!

Thank you!

We are doing it at the end of June. The boutique is located in DTD, so it will take some time away from touring. You will have time to go in both parks if that is what you want to do, but do not expect to do a ton in each park. The makeovers are in the $30+ range, so they are cheaper than BBB. There is a little more info located here. You can also search this board for more experiences.

If you are staying onsite at GCH you can go an hour before the boutique opens...so you make your reservation now and when you arrive you let the front desk know you want to do the early appointment.

Depending on the season they open around 8am so you could do the boutique and would miss rope drop since it's in DTD but would be in the parks by 9:15am.

We did it in February. My daughter had just turned 6. She has done the BBB several times, this was her first time. I think SHE liked it just as much, if not, more. That is because she loves herself some Frozen! I, however, prefer the BBB because it's definitely got a more "magical" feel. Honestly, little kids don't notice the difference. They are very very friendly, and do a great job! I have no doubt that your daughter will love it.

We did this in April. I was honestly glad I didn't pay more for what we got, which was an inexperienced stylist (she stated she was new). She did, undid and redid my daughters hair so many times, my DD4 was getting frustrated. The hairstyle was complicated and really not for little girls with thin hair. In the end, it looked just okay and fell out within a couple of hours. I much prefer the hair styling at BBB, that little bun did not come out for days, lol.

BUT - my DD LOVED that she got the blue streaks and got her nails painted and makeup done, so she looked like Elsa. The stylists were very friendly and the shop is cute. We will probably go again, since I have a little Frozen freak, but we'll choose a different hair style.

This was a couple of hours after the salon visit:

Man, I wish my girl was old enough for this. She'd love some glitter in her hair!

I wish the BBB would offer Anna and Elsa hairstyles. I really want to let my girls do the Castle Package but I'm not that crazy about the ultra severe bun. We've done the BBB twice in the past. They enjoy the experience but I just do not love that bun. It would be nice to try something different.

We've done the A&E Boutique and my girls (7 and 9) loved it. I think little girls should do BBB first to really get that magical experience. It's relatively in the middle of DTD so easy to get to and from. You can definitely fit it and park time in no problem. It takes an hour at most.

FYI the stylists and cashier CMs there are always happy to "ice" anyone or their button - they'll sprinkle the super fine glitter on you or your button if you ask.

Sorry this picture doesn't show the hairstyles well but you can see face gems, etc. This was at Mickey's Halloween Party so my girls wanted their full costume including tiara. :)

We did this last Christmas with an 8-year-old and 2 4-year-olds and they loved it! I liked that it was slightly less expensive than the BBB, and my girls were happy about the Frozen-theme becuase that's what they're crazy about right now. We had 3 very different types of hair with us, thin and whispy, medium and stright, and thick and curly and the stylists did a great job with each of them. None of the girls were uncomfortable with their hair afterwards.

The one thing I didn't like was that half of the styling stations are right in the middle of the store, and the story was crazy busy. So, some of the magicial experience was taken away by the hubbub of shopping all around them. Half of the stations are at the back wtih a couch for parents and that was much nicer. It seemed random which place you were sent.

I've never been to BBB but the slightly lower price of A&E made this just within our reach. But having them sit there for an hour surrounded by all that Frozen merch meant I had to fend of a lot of "I want's" and "can I have" that was a little tough. All-in-all it was a good experience and I'd recommend it.

Thanks for all of your replies and pictures! We are planning a trip out West in March of next year (probably Spring Break-ish time). My girl has done BBB and LOVED it (wants to do it again on our cruise next summer too). I think the A&E boutique might be a nice change for her. The main thing I was "worried" about was when to do it. But, I think if we try to get an earlier morning appointment, we will still have plenty of time to tour the parks. Thanks everyone!!

Thanks everyone for the photos! DD has done BBB when she was 7 but was unsure if A&E would take a 13 yr old. But I called and got an appointment for her and she is looking forward to it. She loves the Elsa hair do and since she has thick hair, I hope that the braid works out for her. :-)

DD10 *loves* BBB but didn't like A&E as much when we tried it. In part, that's because even though she liked Frozen, she's kind of tired of it/over it. But she likes the playfulness/magic of BBB and the way the "fairy godmothers in training" are in character at BBB. I'm sure the kinds of hairstyles available at each place had something to do with it, too, as A&E doesn't offer anything that's like the "Pop Princess" style that she likes at BBB--lots of different colors of hair additions and faux braids, and very wild and vertical.

After a delay with Disney's scheduling, I was finally able to book appointments for our nieces. We were hoping to get all 3 in at the same time to sit in the 3 chairs together at the back of the store. Unfortunately, we have 2 together and 1 that will be 15 minutes earlier, which isn't too bad. Has anyone had any experience booking for 3 at the same time? I am wondering if I should spend the time calling to check for cancellations. This is our first "makeover" experience so I have no idea what we are in for! :) Thanks in advance!!
