Hi, I'm hoping someone could tell me if Animator's Palate does the color thing each night that you are in there - or if it only happens on your first assigned night. I've heard conflicting stories from the staff. Thanks!

Hi.

The color change "show" only happens on your first assigned night there.

The "show" is only on your first assigned night there.

Hi,
Don't mean to sound ignorant, but what is the light show? This will be our first Disney cruise with two granddaughters. Really looking forward to it.

It's a neat experience, but don't expect it to take your breath away.
All the pictures on the walls start out black and white, and slowly transform to color through your dinner.

You don't say what the ages of your granddaughters are. I was on the Magic with my 6 year-old nephew and was surprised by how much he enjoyed the show. They play songs from various Disney movies and the song that's playing gives you a hint as to which black and white pictures will change to color next. There are pictures from several movies on the walls, some small and some are large (like big-screen TV size) so only the pictures of the movie the song is from will change, and as I recall they changed to color suddenly. My nephew enjoyed identifying the song (if he could or I helped him) and then looking around the room for the corresponding pictures to see if he could "catch" them changing. In addition to the pictures, there are large "paintbrush"-looking pillars in the dining room that have lots of small lights in them, as well as lights in the ceiling of the dining room (I believe) and they change color and flash in different patterns (like those strings of Xmas lights you can buy) along with the songs. Like I say, he was really into the show. We had the late dinner seating and he sometimes got tired (or bored) at dinner, since he was the only child in our group, along with his mom and two aunts! Maybe that was one reason he got into it! ;)

The ceilings also turn color and the waitstaff start out by wearing black and white vests and then when they deliver the main entree (I think or could have been dessert) they switch the vests over to color and everything is in full color. Food is also served on palates. Its a fun time. We all enjoyed the experience.

But the pace is slow. A lot of people seem to expect something on the scale of Spectromagic - and this is much more subtle. The colors change slowly over two hours worth of dinner.

We enjoyed it a lot, and it was pretty much what I expected. Its background to the food, not the experience itself.

My granddaughters are 7 and 4. I think they are going to love this. They are getting so excited. They watch the cruised DVD over and over. They have almost worn out the brochure.

I watched the cruise special on Travel Channel last night. They had the Disney cruise ships on their and told how the color change happens at Animator's Palate. It was fun to watch. Wish I had taped it.

Irene
