I read a post somewhere about animal towels in guests room?

Do you buy them? are they regular towels with animal faces on them to use?

Thanks.

The animal towels are left by "Mousekeeping" for the guest. They are towels that are made to look like animals. We had a bunny shaped towel and a butterfly shaped towel. Some of the towels have stickers on them for eyes, mouths, etc. They are not for sale. I believe it is hit or miss on whether or not you get an animal towel. Do not go expecting one, so you are not disappointed if you do not receive one. At CBR we received 2 and at the BWI we received none.

Sometimes housekeepers will fold, twist, tie, etc. a towel or washcloth into the shape of a towel. Think balloon animals, but with towels. :) They're just the regular room towels, no faces or designs printed on them.

It's nothing you can buy or request. Just a random little bit of pixie dust that you MIGHT get, if your housekeeper knows how to do it, isn't too busy, and is inclined to do it.

It's really best to assume that you won't see a towel animal. I've gotten a grand total of 3 in 75+ days spent at WDW resorts over the years. They've become more common in recent years, but they're still meant to be a nice little surprise, not something that you ask for.

We stayed at CBR last December and received an animal towel everyday but 1 during our 9 day trip. :woohoo:

Since it was before Christmas we did have our window decorated and had decorated Mousekeeping tip envelopes for them everyday. I am not sure if that made a difference or not. :confused3

We got them at CBR this past May, mousekeeping was excellent at this resort with our without the towel animals.

CBR is the only resort where we've gotten animal towels. A mousekeeper came by our room and asked DH how many children we had and if they were girls or boys. The girls got mice dressed up like ballerinas and the boy got a clown. They were very cute, and my teenage girls loved them!

Related question here: What do people usually do with the towel animals? Do you just set them off to the side, use them like regular towels, are they souvenirs, or what? Thanks.

Does anyone know if they make any of these towels at BCV? I read somewhere where someone even had a mickey mouse towel. How cute!!

They are pretty involved to make - you wouldn't use them as a towel. They are actually made out of wash cloths. They kept them on their beds every day like a stuffed animal. My girls still have theirs.

Isn't it stealing if you take the towel animals? In another post someone said they needed an extra bag just to take all of theirs home. I would think they are hotel property since they are made with hotel towels. Are you allowed to take them? Confused. :confused3

We were at POFQ last week and we had a towel animal every day but one. We ended up with 2 bunnies, a dog, a mouse, and one other I can't remember. Last Aug. at POFQ we never got one. On our first day heading out to the parks we had to return to the room for something we forgot - our Mousekeeper was already in the room and saw my DD who is 6. I thought maybe because she knew there was a small child in the room she made an effort to leave more - I'm not sure if that's the case, but my DD couldn't wait to get back to the room to see which animal she would get!:rotfl:

I always assumed they left these for you to take home as part of the Magic - I never thought of it as stealing but rather a little something extra to remind you of a great trip!

Mousekeeping came to our room and gave them to our kids. These are not the towels we used in our room. They are very involved - they are wash cloths, hot glued together and tied with ribbon and embellished with pom poms, etc. It's pretty obvious they are a souvenir.

We received five towel animals during our 10 day stay at the CBR. We asked mousekeeping if we were to take them home and she said absolutely. I take them out during holidays to decorate our bathroom. Here's a picture of one of the many we received during our June, 2007 stay.

Cool! Hope they don't ignore us just because it's dh and I. ;)

We got a different one each night last year at the POP. Last week at CBR, no towel animals for us. My Mousekeeper was crazy.
