does anyone know what this is? my friend was telling me about it yesterday and you can eat with the characters at Animal Kingdom? what is this? and where do you eat?

Well the animal safari would be the Kilimanjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom. And like it was posted above there is a character breakfast.

There is also something called the "Sunrise Safari" where you can go out early and see the animals at the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction and, I think, some behind the scenes stuff, with a non-character breakfast which follows. However, I believe this is only available to people staying concierge at the AKL. If my memory on any of this is wrong, I am sure someone will correct me.

I'm also wondering about the GG that involves taking a KS, then eating dinner at Tusker House. Most of the GG dinners involve visits from the characters.

Sunrise Safari is an extra-long safari ride that is only open to guests of AKL concierge level. It includes a buffet breakfast afterwards at AK, but I dont think there are characters there. It costs around $50 per person. (I may be wrong on some of this, we are planning to go on the Sunrise Safari on our next trip, but haven't gone on it yet).

Yes.. good info about Sunrise Safari, but is this what "party of 3" is referring to?

1) It runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings- we did it this past Thurs.
2) It's only open to AKL concierge level guests. Also needs to be prepaid and park admission required.
3) Young children and babies are allowed but it's really smart to consider if your children will have fun on this or just be crying and screaming the whole way.
4) The safari leaves the lodge at 7:25 am promptly. We went through the backstage areas of AK and learned a lot about animal care and the AK park in general.
5) We boarded the Kilimanjaro Safari buses in groups of 15- depends on the size of the entire group. We had a private tour of the AK savannahs that are shown during the real ride.
6) However we had a really educational time in the sense that the guide answered questions and told us a lot of facts.
7) We had breakfast at the Tusker House- which was in the school room- private to all others. Tusker House is normally a counter service. However, the chefs made breakfast in a buffet style just for us. The chef was out to answer questions, explain what the foods are, and be around in case of allergies, etc.
8) The breakfast was delicious- started at 9:15 and went until however long you wanted to stay. The tour guides ate with us too to answer questions and talk more about anything.

The price is around $55/adult. Not sure about kids' prices. I know they also change the prices frequently so I would call the resort to find out specifics. Hope this helps.

Ok I found it! I read about it on all ears. (is is ok that i reference another web site?) it's only for grand gatherings. It's called a Safari Celebration! You go on the KS and then have dinner at Harambe's Tusker House with characters and up close animal experiances and live entertainment!

Sounds like fun huh? Only we can not due this because we are only "party of 3" not 8! bummer!

I heard on one of my podcasts that if you stay at any concierge level in any hotel that for $40/pp you can take a safari in a small jeep type bus. It runs at 10:00 and 1:00.

Grand gatherings for a group of three hehe. I want to do a grand gathering b/c they get so many special things- like the whole desserts and watching Illuminations from a private spot- very cool.

The concierge safaris are for all concierge guests at any deluxe Disney resort at a lower price than the Sunrise Safari for just AKL concierge guests. I have not heard much about it.
