stupid boston redsox Ny yankee rivalry, the greatest rivalry in pro sports today,

Fans on either side of the Packers-Bears / Red Wings-Evilanche / Maple Leafs-Canadiens / Lakers-Celtics rivalries may beg to differ with you about NYY-BOS being the greatest rivalry in pro sports today. ;)

I LOVE Animal Kingdom, it's beautiful ... STOP and enjoy it!! It's my dd9 (lexi's) FAVORITE of all the parks!! :cloud9:

We love AK - our 2nd favorite park. We've always seen a ton of animals during the safari.

We went on January 2, and rode the safari in the afternoon. We saw more animals than when we went first thing in the morning. Where else can you go where you are 10 feet away from a rhino and a group of giraffes? :sunny:

Chester and Hesters in Dinoland is supposed to be garish and tacky looking. It was modeled after those cheesy travelling carnivals that set up in parking lots. They made it with a dinosaur theme to fit into Dinoland. If you look down at the ground you will see they actually made it look like an old parking lot with worn-looking white lines etc. The ol' attention to detail! :earsboy:

EXACTLY!! That's the whole point of Dinoland. I love the INTENTIONAL tackiness, and you are so right about taking time to check out the details.

I used to not like AK, it ranked at the bottom of my list. It has started to grow on me and we really like Camp Minnie/Mickey for the characters.

:flower3: Thanks Pigletlover!! We'll definitely be keeping our eye out for them! :sunny:

The palm tree moves around outside the entrance (and just inside too) at opening time (and before). Sometimes it just sits in one place and talks to people, and it also moves around to where people are standing. He tells you he likes your outfit, asks you to buy him a ticket etc.

At Rafiki's Planet Watch there is a talking green recycling trashcan that moves around inside the building and talks to people. He kept asking my husband if he had finished his soda bottle and to make sure he put it inside. :flower:

loved it. Our kids are 6, 4 & 3 and it was just perfect. There were no lines, we were able to meet tons of characters, we loved the safari and the planet watch and Lion King was excellent. Really nice. I'd say it was my 2nd favorite next to Fantasyland area of MK.

Forgot to add that we were able to get so many signatures here with no lines that it made the rest of the parks so easy! We could say we already met 'X' let's let the other kids meet him, etc. Yipee! ;o)

The safari is very much a "time of day" attraction. You have to go at the right time to see the goods.

What time to you suggest to do the safari? :confused3 I'm leaving in 2 weeks and I want to make the most of it. No point in waiting to go on the safari unless I'm there at the right time! :goodvibes

Do the safari in the morning and also in the late afternoon if you have the time. In the middle of the day when it's hot the animals tend to lay around and not be as active as when it's cooler. After a rainstorm is a good time too.

I'm not sure if all the animals are out first thing in the morning at opening time, so check with a cast member at the safari entrance. You may want to do it a little later in the morning instead (you can always get a Fastpass and come back a little later after you've done some other things).

Also check with the cast member what time the last safari for the day is. If the park closes at 5 pm then the last safari might be 4 or 4.30 pm (I can't remember).

It's always good to do it twice because you will usually see some animals better on one than the other. Sometimes they will get closer to the truck or even walk right in front of it, or some will be generally more active.

We did it 3 times over 2 days, and I finally saw the baby elephant on the 3rd time. Also one time the hippos were "kissing" each other with wide open mouths in the water, which was funny to see.

Thanks! That is a huge help. Now I can plan my day at AK. :)
