We're staying at the animal kingdom for the 1st time. Would like to know what people think of it and I've been hearing that it's really hard to get to parks. Would I need to rent a car?

Thank You,
Jackie

We stayed at AKL last spring and fell in love with this awesome resort. It is absolutely beautiful. My family loved the pool there and the restaurants are terrific too. This is just my opinion but I thought the bus service was the best we've ever had. AKL doesn't share busses with any other resort so it seemed like the transportation went quicker. I hope you enjoy your stay there as much as we did. We can't wait to go back. And welcome to the Dis. This is a great forum and anything you need to know someone here will be ready to help.

Thank you, we're looking forward to going. We're actually staying for 5 nights before at the Wilderness Lodge and then 3 nights at the AK. Haven't stayed at either place before.

We've stayed at both and have never experienced any problems with transportation to and from the parks. But if you are going to another resort for dinner...build travel time into your schedule in case you have to do the DTD bus transfer.

We are staying there for the 2nd time in May. It is a beautiful resort. We never used transportation last year because we rented a car and we are driving our own car down this year. The resort is further away from all parks except for AK. That didn't bother us but it does some people. You will love it. Hope you have a GREAT time. ::yes::

Hello fellow MA Disser! You don't need a car - busses are great! I would just mention that you want to do the storytelling one evening - so watch your PS's. If you plan them at traditional supper times, you'll miss this. They were running it at about 6:30pm while we were there, and I had PS's thru the week - so we never heard the storytelling - I think we really missed out!

I'm new at this. I'm assuming PS stands for priorty seating and how does everyone get that block that lists where and when they've stayed and then the little do dad that tells them when next they are going.

Thanks to everyone for advice on AK and WL. We're also new DVC members for Saratago. Looking forward to many good years there.

We park our car when we get to AKL and do not get back into it until we leave. We have used the Disney transportation and had no problems from AKL whatsoever. The distance does not bother us -- the atmosphere of the lodge totally compensates for that!

Yes, you are correct.

how does everyone get that block that lists where and when they've stayed
You can insert it into your signature, using the User Control Panel at the top of the screen

then the little do dad that tells them when next they are going
There is a post on the technical support board called Get Your Count Downs Here that gives the directions and generates the html you will need to insert into your signature.

Have a great time!
