Hey there! What are your feelings about the Savannah View rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Would you recommend this resort? Any hints or suggestions? I will be honeymooning at WDW after my wedding in MT this July.:sunny:

I cant begin to tell you how much I love this resort. I think by FAR it is the most romantic. You really do feel like you are in Africa, the resort is a little further away then the others, BUT I think its a good thing. And its only by like 5 minutes. The ambience is a little darker, but that makes it work. This place comes alive at night! The firepits with the big rocking chairs, the beautiful pools, a pool bar that makes THE BEST drinks. Rooms are nicely sized, and there is nothing like waking up and sitting on your balcony and watching giraffe eat breakfast 20 feet from you. ALSO the food is not to be believed, it is not your usual fare, BOMA's is just fantastic, they had some standard things, but also things like peanut rice(unbelievable) and all types of different and delicious cuisine, and desserts that were so good (zebra domes, and the TIRAMISU)...my favorite restaraunt. Also they have Jiko's which is superb, a bit more expensive, but well worth it. There is always a subtle african song playing in the background and standing outside at night watching the animals and sitting by the fire is so beautiful. We just got back in October and am getting ready to go back in february. BTW we went to ALL of the resorts and this was by far the favorite. Hope this helps and you have a WONDERFUL time!

We to love AKL. There wasn't a bad thing about our entire stay!! We just returned at the beginning of Dec. My brother and sister-in-law are going to disney for their honeymoon in June. They are staying the first three days at ASMo and then when we arrive down we were all supposed to go stay at Pop Century for a week. Well that's what they think. We however are all going to stay at AKL. They don't know it and won't untill we pull up to AKL instead of Pop. (brother has neer been to disney) They saw video and pics of our stay and kept saying they wish they could afford to stay there. My mom and I had already planned to switch so this will be a big surprise!!! They only have to pay for the stay at ASMo, we are paying for the AKL part. It will be our gift to them! I can't wait!!!

They also have night vision goggles you can use to look at the animals at night. Very cool!! The Mara also has some very good food and not too expensive. The themeing, the views the CM's, everything was wonderful!!!

You will LOVE AKL!!:D

There are many many threads on the AKL, spend some time going through past threads and you will learn just about everything you would wish to know.

Its a GREAT place.

We also LOVE AKL!! It is a wonderful resort!! If you haven't booked yet, ask for Arusha Savannah - it was awesome (not that the others aren't great, we just enjoyed ours the best.

I think it would be a wonderful place for a honeymoon! It seems intimate and so cozy even though it is a very large resort, with a large lobby. There are plenty of quiet places to relax and enjoy the animals and each other. There was nothing better than getting up and walking out to our balcony in the am and pm!

I DEFINITELY recommend AKL, and can't wait to go back!

we also returned on the 9th from 11 nights at AKL savannaha view and it can't be beat. The resort is just awsome and being able to watch the animals off your own balcony puts the icing on the cake. The bus transportation is great and the WP and pool are nice. The resort it's self seems to be quiter than some of the others and that is nice when you really want to just stop and take some time out of a hectic vacation. There is daily activities and some such as the night vision viewing of the animals, the art tour, and the cooking tour are really nice for adults.
We actually perfer a floor other than the 3rd since they seem to be a little less active than the 3rd where everyone walks to get in and out of the hotel.
As far as views go I don't think there is a really bad view since the animals move around all day and you constantly have a changing view outside your room.
The zebra trail is closest to the food and pool if that matters to you.
Have a great honeymoon :wave2:
