What is the difference in the value studio and the standard studio?

The Values are smaller in size (approx 3 feet shorter from door to balcony). The Values and Concierge Level only exist in Jambo House. Standard & Savanna Views are located in both Jambo House & Kidani Village.

Value is value because of size. The studio is about 315 sq ft (close to the size of a Port Orleans room). All other studios at AKV are close to 360 sq ft. The size difference between the value rooms and others is very noticeable.

See this map for location of values at Jambo:
http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5-large.html They are the rooms along the Giraffe and Ostrich Trails at the front part of the Jambo building. There are 10 2BR lock-offs (which can also be studios and 1BRs) and 8 dedicated studios. As to availability, the value rooms often disappear long before the 7 month window opens and during the DVC high demand season from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, and even at some other times, they can be difficult to get even at 11 months out.

The values along Ostrich Trail face the pool, most along Giraffe Trail face the savanna but two of the 2BR lock-offs face the front looking toward the parking lot (but seeing mostly tress and bushes). You cannot request view with the values.

Standard rooms are at both Jambo and Kidani. At Jambo, the original standards face the pool, but a number of savanna view rooms were converted from standard because view was not that good and those are in different locations along both Zebra and Kudo Trail. They are a lot of standards at Kidani, also including some rooms converted from savanna to standard view. Standard rooms are easy to get at 7 months out from mid-Jan to late Sep, DVC's low to moderate demand season, and are often open during the late Sep to first part of Jan period, but you can have issues with those not being available at 7 months out at times during that high demand quarter, more so at Jambo than Kidani.

Its a noticeable difference. Never stayed in a value studio but ive been inside of them. The lobby is cooler at Jambo but its not a big deal

The Standard/Savanna View Studios in Kidani Village are only 1 sq ft different in size compared to the same view category in Jambo House.
The bathroom in the Jambo House Studio has a much better configuration than those in Kidani Village.

For 1-bedroom and larger units, those in KV will be at least 100 sq ft larger than those in JH.

I have to disagree. I imagine it's a personal preference, but I much preferred the bathroom layout at Kidani. At Jambo, I felt like I had to straddle the commode to close the door.

At least at Jambo House, someone can be using the sinks while another person is using the tub since they are in separate areas.

I have to agree with Michael - we really didn't care for the studio bathroom layout at Kidani. How silly to put the sink and tub in the same room - no privacy for whoever is showering if someone else wants to get ready at the same time. And the kitchenette is noticeably smaller at Kidani. We also really like to hit the Mara a couple times per trip so we would always try to go to Jambo over Kidani. Between those 3 reasons it's a no brainer for us.
