How long does it take the average person or family to do the animal kingdom. I know every family is different but as a starting quick check on times that would be great since I am a newbie to Disney..... or should we just skip it and do more magic kingdom.

We're done by noon, and that includes lunch, we've even skipped it the past two trips. But I know a lot of other families could spend 2 days there.

If you have park hoppers, I'd plan on heading there one day. If not, I'd just do MK if it were me.

If you got there at rope drop have fp+ and hit the major attractions you could easily be done by two in the afternoon. As far as if you should skip it it depends on ages of people in family, does your family like animals. This is my oldest daughter's favorite park as she loves the safari, expedition everest and walking the animal trails. I also really enjoy festival of the lion king.

We spend an entire day there and have two days planned for our next visit. How many park days do you have and how do you have them allocated for each park now?

My last trip was three days during the off-season, and with the park closing at 6:00pm, I made it a half-day... but I probably could've spent another four hours to appreciate everything.

Some of the park is "educational" and it may depend on your interest in animals. If you enjoy seeing the exhibits, you could certainly spend a full day on just that alone. The Kilamanjaro Safari alone is worth multiple rides on the same day.

Even if you're not into zoos, AK is one of the most beautifully themed parks available. You truly feel like you are through exotic lands around the world. Expedition Everest is among the most fun rides that Disney has ever created. The food options at AK are excellent.

I definitely think AK is worth seeing if you've never been. Of all the parks, I felt it was the most relaxed and leisurely. My favorite was just meandering the many pathways and talking to the guides who were very knowledgable about the exhibits. Ideally, your AK day will be flexible so you can linger if the place inspires you. If you feel bored, you can just hit up the big attractions and leave earlier.

For me it's a 1 1/2 to 2 day park. But I can spend a lot of time just wandering the trails and watching shows. I even can just spend time watching the various music performers and hang around the trail waiting for Devine.

Since my son is too short for most of the rides it's a 2 hour park for us. 8am meal at Tusker, followed by safari at RD, then off to MK where our FPs begin at 10:30.

I've been there for almost a whole day - Rope Drop to about 3-4pm.

But, for me, it's mostly a half day park. I don't do the trails, skip the shows and only do the rides. I haven't really gone around the whole park all that much. I'd have to tour it one day, on my own with the want to discover new things and see everything I can which I probably will do in September. :)

Agree with everyone...that it depends on how much you enjoy animals. We spend a full day there each trip. We do most of the rides (EE 3-4 times) and watch most of the shows. It's a full day for us but if you don't watch the shows u can probably do it in a half day

We do a full day there, and still don't see and do everything. After 4 trips, we still haven't caught the bird show.

We do one "full" day. By full I mean we go at rope drop, do everything we want and usually leave around 4 or 5 and head to DTD for Disney Quest and dinner :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

For me, it's a one day park, and I do try and get there at rope drop. Love Animal Kingdom.

We did one day last time, next trip were planning for 1.5-2 days. DS loves the wilderness badge adventure thing they have so I found that ate up a lot of our time and we still didn't finish, so next time I know he'll want to do it again, he was almost 8 at the time. Lion king show is a must!

If you have at least 1 day for each park, then I'd do it. It's definitely worth trying out. Many people love it. I went pre-kids and we enjoyed it. We got a lot done and were done in time for an early dinner, but did spend a nice chunk of time at AK. We did the shows and the rides. Then came the kids. AK was a flop. One would think kids would love it - nope! After 3 trips of it being a failure in a row, we finally skipped it completely on our last trip. We are doing a half day there on our next trip. (Which is what we did the 3rd time it was a failure). I think it's time for the kids to give it another chance. I'm not about to schedule a full day for it though given their past experiences with it. But, we're doing AK since we have plenty of time. We need our EP time!

Give us more info about your family and trip and we can tailor advice a little more. If you have the time, you can easily do 2 days there. You can spend a couple hours at the Conservation Station between the new show up there, the petting zoo, and the exhibits. You can really take your time on the trails, looking at the tigers and gorillas. There's a neat bird show, and they just added a new one. There's Festival of the Lion King- the only "can't miss" in AK as far as I'm concerned, and one of the best things on Disney property. "Finding Nemo the Musical" is also great, and features music by the couple who wrote Frozen. The Wilderness Explorers program is really neat- if you've got scout minded kids you could spend HOURS on that. Notice I haven't mentioned any rides yet?

I love AK also and go from rope drop until about 4pm. I like to do EE a couple of times as well as the safari at different times of the day. I love FOLK and recently saw Nemo for the first time. The bird show is very good. There is a lot to see there and I find the park quite relaxing.

Last year we only did half day. We were both exhausted and it was stormy/overcast/drizzly. DD didn't want to go on Everest. (And you can't do rider swap with just one parent!) so we did Tusker House pre rope drop, Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, Kali River Rapids, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Primeval Whirl, and TriceraTop Spin.

We left the park around 1pm I think? Maybe earlier.
