i keep reading how a lot of people dont like the animal kingdom. Also my sister in law is in that crowd she said it will be a waste of our time...

my question is what about park did you not like. And what about the part that you did like ?

I loved loved loved sea world, and i figured i would love animal kingdom

Animal Kingdom is my favorite WDW park. Anyone who thinks it is a waste of time clearly has not seen all that AK has to offer.

I really, really enjoy the Animal Kingdom. Having said that, though, it's not really for everyone. Basically, you have to take a different mentality while touring. Sure, there are things you want to get to early, like Everest, the Safari, etc., but to truly enjoy the AK you have to be willing to slow down, take in the atmosphere, and check out the details.

The most common complaint about the AK is that there aren't enough attractions. I agree with this. Everest helps, but the park really needs another area (maybe the proposed "Beastly Kingdom" that never made it off the drawing boards.) However, having said that, I can't imagine going to WDW and not riding Everest, the Safari, Dinosaur, and seeing Festival of the Lion King.

If you've never been to the AK, don't skip it. It's a great park.

you see, I love AK. I think to many people misunderstand the place. I think it is an Imagineering Masterpiece.

You want thrill rides, it is the wrong place to be (although with Everest in place...) But you like Disney Magic, it is great... I dream about AK on a regular basis... :teeth:

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park! I love the theming. I just love watching the animals. My favorite attractions are the Kilimanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids. The Lion King show is not to be missed! Tusker House and Flame Tree Barbecue are my favorite counter service restaurants in all of WDW!!! You will absolutely love watching the Gorillas and and the Komodo Dragon. The tigers are so beautiful. I could spend every day there. You will love it.

We really enjoyed Animal Kingdom! So much so that we skipped our ressies for 1900 Park Fare so we could finish the park. Next trip we're planning on 2 days at AK so we can take our time and take it all in.

The Animal Kingdom is great. I love the park and would not skip. I love Dinosaur, the Safari ride, and all of the animal exhibits. Don;t miss the Lion King or Bird shows either.

We love AK! It is a slower paced park and for some reason it always feels hotter there!!
We do spend less time here, but I think if you slow down and take the time to appreciate all it has to offer you'll love it.
We love the Rapids, Dinosaur, the Safari, Planet watch, tough to be a bug. My favorite parade is Jammin Jungle!!! The Lion King show is excellent!!! Camp Minnie and Mickey is a great photopass spot...I think it's so cool to see those little Monkeys just hanging out in the trees. The carvings in the Tree of Life...are you sold yet? :teeth: :thumbsup2
Try it and decide for yourself, I bet you'll enjoy it. :goodvibes

see i think i will love this park also. I love animals and it sounds like a blast. I could spend all day just at our local zoo.

I have just been reading on the boards all day, and so many people were saying it was a waste of time...

maybe it wouldnt be crowed when we go

. . .AK is my favorite park! So much so, that I would go to AK every day of our vacation (of course I'd have to work in MK, but other than that)! If you love animals, you cannot miss this park. It will be humid in June (I saw in your sig that that's when you are going), so just make sure you keep hydrated. AK has SO much to offer--rides, trails, exhibits, everything! Plus, it has the BEST parade in all of WDW--Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade! You really, really should try AK!

Of course, that's just my little opinion. . . :goodvibes

It is quite an enjoyable park. We have never spent more than a day there, but it was never a day wasted. There are tons of animals and trails to walk, not to mention the must do's!

:thumbsup2

thank you everyone, i am feeling a lot better now about this park. we are planning on just spending a day at each park

Since the OP asked about people who don't like AK, I'm going to reply because it's not my favorite. I've done it three times, and the first time it was brand new and didn't have much set up yet. So, I've given it a "fair shake," I think by visiting it twice more over the years. I love the Tree of Life, and the Dinosaur ride, and the "dinosaur dig" for the little kids, the the river rapid ride. But overall, this park feels like the zoo to me because the animals are real. If you don't live near a zoo, or haven't seen a lot of these animals, or really like safari-type things, then you will probably like this park. But if you've experienced this a lot through other places, it's nothing unique to Disney. I think that's the key for me: It doesn't "feel" like Disney because of this "non-unique" aspect. All the other parks have a Walt Disney "feel," and this one, in my opinion, does not. Also, maybe this is just me, but it seems hotter at AK than any other park. Granted, we went in the summer all the times we visited, but the plant life and stuff required for the animals seems "stifling" more than the other parks. And I was even wearing my "safari" hat the entire time. :rotfl2: Anyway, that's just my take on it. I do think it's worth seeing if you haven't seen it before because I think the only way to really judge something is to experience it.

I like the animal kingdom very much. The people I know that don’t like it all seem to have the same complaints. The top ones are, its to hot and not enough to do and the park closes early. I agree with all of them but I don’t think less of the park because of it. I love Kali, Dinosaur, the safari and Everest should be very cool. It does seem to be a bit hotter because you are outside most of the time. As far as not enough to do, if you see all the exhibits there is plenty to do (a few more rides/attractions would be nice). I also think the shorter time the park is open fits what they have to do there. The theming is like what most have said, some of the best in Disney. Don’t judge by what others have said, do yourself a favor and judge for yourself.

My family and I have been to AK several times and have always enjoyed it. It's not the "ride fest" that MK is, but it has many great attractions. We LOVE "It's tough to be a bug" and the safari and the Lion King Show. The park does tend to feel very crowded and hot during the middle of the day. Also love the food at Tusker House.

Seems to me the key to enjoying AK is to plan ahead. Get the major attractions out of the way early in the morning(get there at opening)before the crowds get bad. They the rest is like icing on the cake.

I love animals, hence AK is a no-brainer. I find the layour different and interesting. It is definitely a discovery type park, where you wander and find hidden hidden gems as opposed to the other parks which have more of a rigid entertainment structure.

Beautiful park!

AK has improved over the years with more rides and more shade (according to DH) . EE the newest "mountain" is so awesome. We were there 2 weeks ago and AK was very crowded. Its not to be missed!! Go and then decide for yourself if its worth it.
