My mom and I are going in sept.- I am 24- she is 44 should we go to Animal Kingdom or skip it. We have decided to only go to 2 or 3 parks- I want to go to Magic Kigdom of course and my mom says Epcot but I would like to try Animal Kingdom. What do you think?!

Animal Kingdom is our family's favorite Disney park. If I were only going to 3 parks I would do Animal Kingdom, MGM and then it would be a toss up between Epcot and MK.

It all depends on what you're interested in. I like all of the parks in different ways, and am not sure what I would do if I had to pick two or three, rather than all four, on one trip.

I bet if you asked 20 different people which parks they would go to, you would get twenty different answers!

My advice is to get a guide book or two from the library to see the types of things that are at each park, and use that information to decide which ones to go to.

YES, YES, YEs, and um....YES!!!

We went 2 years ago and I was so iffy about AK. My previous trip was in 1996 and AK wasn't even built then (I don't think). I came to the Dis Boards for opinions because I really didn't see paying $60 a head to see a over exaggerated zoo.

The DIS'ers here told not to miss it so we budgeted for it and BOY AM I GLAD!! It is now our 2nd (maybe 1st) favorite park. It's not like a zoo AT ALL. It's like you are in a totally different country! So bright and colorful, so authentic. The Safari is NOT to be missed nor is Dinosaur!

I would recomment MK, AK, and a toss up on the other 2 parks.

You HAVE to go to AK.....it's awesome!

We loved Animal Kingdom there is so much to see and do ,also it closes earlier than the other parks so maybe you could spend a day at AK then watch the fireworks at another disney park. :cool1:

I would vote YES. AK is one of our favorites, but we typically are able to do most of what we want in about 5-6 hours then hit MGM or Epcot (if you have park-hopper). Try to get to the Safari in the early morning (the animals are more active during this time).

Have Fun

The AK is a beautiful park. It's theming is absolutely amazing in it's level of detail. If you want you can move at a slower pace and have a relaxing day. There are lots of places to sit and just absorb your surroundings. Of course, we enjoy the attractions, too, but don't feel so rushed to see "everything". There are great counter service restaurants, too.

If you hit AK first thing in the morning during the summer with longer park hours, you will still have half a day to go to another park.

YES! AK is a really fun and interesting park with LOTS to do. Even if you only got for a 1/2 day you should still go and do it.

I vote yes! I am 42 and AK is my second favorite park (EPCOT is #1). When I went with a friend of mine a couple of years after AK opened, she mentioned that we didn't need to go to AK. I of course said, Oh no, we are going to AK. And guess what.. We both loved it. Of course as much as I loved it, to make the decision for yourself, look at how much you like animals. If you & your mother like animals, then definitely go for it!

For our family AK is a 1/2 day park because it just gets toooooo HOT by 1 or so. We do try and get in another 1/2 day later in our trip. Get to the AK first thing and spend time there till the heat wins then move to another park.
I could not go to WDW and skip either MK or Epcot in favor of AK, but you could easily do all three by making the most of evening hours at MK/Epcot.

AK is a park NOT to miss, there are many things to do and see, especially just to find a shadded spot and observe everything around you. Its very layed back and a relaxed feeling just walking around taking in the sights. DW and usually hit this park 2 to 3 times during our trip. Hope you get to fit this into your schedule.

I'd pick Epcot over AK. The food and rides are better, and that includes Expedition Everest.

I must be the only AK hater on this board! DFi and I have been going since they opened it and I just can't stand this park. It gets ridiculously hot no matter what time of year because all the foliage is close together, plus mixed with all the people it just seems even hotter with overcrowding. When we go, we typically just spend half a day there because it's not worth it to spend the whole day. When we went in February, we were there for two hours - long enough to eat lunch and DFi and DB rode EE once.

If you're only going to pick 3 parks, then do the majors - MGM, MK and Epcot. Although, you could probably spend 1/2 day or a few hours in AK and still have plenty of time to do MGM that afternoon/evening.

As always, YMMV, but it's really my least favorite park.

i didnt like animal kindom thought it was to expensive for a glorified zoo but i guess you have to try at least once like everything at disney you wanna do it all but if it isnt in budget our concerned about money i would skip it the problem with this message board is most people on here are rich and usually can afford the big expensive park hopper passes and all the bells of whistles of the resorts and parks but if you cant dont waste money on animal kindowm its not worth it

I absolutely love AK! It is definately a must do for us. We love Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safari, and Festival of Lion King. We also can't wait to ride Expedition Everest in September...

All that said, if I had to choose between Animal Kingdom and Epcot, I would choose Epcot any day!

Of course doing all 4 parks is always best but if you can only do 2 then I would do MK and Epcot. If you can do 3 then I would add AK.
