I love to cook and with all the restaurants, I believe that food is a essential part of experiencing Disney. It is a great place to try things that maybe you haven't had before. Not to mention it is a chance to sit down and take a break.

I am trying to get Ideas for what are the best foods to eat (or try for the first time) at Animal Kingdom if I am only going to be there one day

Please provide me with your Favorite Snack, CS meals and TS meals.

This is what I've got so far

Must Have Snack
Tea or frozen Chai Tea - Royal Anandapur Tea Company
Egg Rolls - Yak & Yeti (Y&Y) Counter Service (CS) (unconfirmed for DDP snack)
Ice Cream Sandwich – choice of cookie and ice cream – Dino-bites
Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas - Misc Ice Cream Carts

Better Restaurant
Yak & Yeti (Y&Y) - Sweet and Sour Pork, the Duck (not Donald I hope)
Tusker House(TH) - like a little Boma (thoughts?) - what meals?
Donald' s Tusker House Safari Breakfast - Juice, no waiting for food, typical character interaction, Daisey Duck

Good Counter Service (CS)
Flame Tree (FTBBQ) - Ribs and Chicken, pulled pork, corn muffins, onion rings
Yak & Yeti Counter Service (Y&YCS)
Pizzafari – Chicken Parm Sandwich and Hot Italian Sandwich

Restaurants to Avoid
Tamu Tamu – not bad, but not worth it if there are lines

We've never done Tusker House. We fell in love with Yak & Yeti this past September. I had the sweet/sour pork and it was very good; DH had the duck and loved it and our best friends had the shrimp and steak and thought it was very good.

Flame Tree--I love the pulled pork and DH likes the chicken. I like the beans, he doesn't; he loves the corn bread, I don't (but I don't like corn bread in general)

When it comes to CS at AK I agree with Pizzafari. We've also had a wonderful breakfast there.:thumbsup2

We did Tusker House for Breakfast and it was nice. They have a huge selection of food, their "special juice" is really good, and you don't tend to have to wait for food (because of the way they have their food set up). The characters are cool but you only get to visit with each for a minute or two (as it is with many of the character dinners).

We really enjoyed our dinner at Yak & Yeti, Flame Tree BBQ has killer BBQ pork and beef sandwiches and the onion rings are fantastic but the main thing we go to AK for is the frozen chai tea at the Andapur Tea Company in the far back of AK

What can you get for Breakfast at Pizzafari?:upsidedow
I got biscuits and sausage gravy - I'm from the South, so I'm really picky about this type of meal and it was really really good. :worship: DH got some kind of danish or muffin and thought it was pretty good.

We absolutely loved Flame Tree BBQ - the food (we had the pulled pork sandwiches), the relatively quiet & secluded outdoor seating. :goodvibes

We did not love Pizzafari -- too loud, very hard to find a table, food (we had the Italian sandwiches; DS had the pizza) was really just so-so.

I'm too spoiled on biscuits and gravy.

I had a friend give me a recipe from a Bed and Breakfast she used to run. there is nothing that compares. My DW can't eat anyone else's now either.

I haven't seen any listings for Breakfast at Pizzafari, so if you come across a menu please let me know.

Thanks

CS: Italian sandwich at Pizzafari
TS: Donald's Breakfast -- yummy juice, unique foods as well as the regulars
Snack: Onion rings from Flame Tree BBQ

CS-Now, I know everyone says Flame Tree, but it just wasn't our favorite. Instead, we love Pizzafari.

TS-Yak and Yeti....oh my goodness, those cream cheese wontons :lovestruc

Snacks-frozen bananas from the carts, pretzels and frozen lemonade (different from the minute maid hard frozen ones...these are fresh and soft) outside of Kali
