renting a
DVC points reservation gets you the best price but there are trade-offs:
1) you generally cannot cancel a DVC reservation and get your money back
2) you generally need to book well in advance - AKV is a larger resort, but you should still plan to book 6-7 months out for good availability (and if you are pricing the cheaper and smaller value villas at AKV, you would need to book promptly at 11 months out)
3) DVC reservations means no daily mousekeeping - just a towel replacement (and shampoo/soap replacement) every 4 days or so - (and i should add as a DVC owner, i actually like not having housekeeping in the room)
4) DVC studios have 1 "real" queensized bed and 1 pullout sofabed - the sofabed is ok but it's not the same as a "real" bed IMO.
but if your plans are firm and you don't mind the trade-offs, AKV is a great resort and DVC rentals can offer significant savings.
