For those that have stayed in a value room at AKL, the two options for room requests are near lobby or near elevator? How has anyone had luck with room choice depending on the request you put in?

Room requests are not accepted for Value rooms at AKV.

You are apparently referring to the requests you find when doing online check-in. Near lobby and near elevator are both the same request (elevator takes you to lobby) and both are mainly pointless since no value room is far from the elevator.

Forty-percent of the value rooms have pool view, 40% savanna view and 20% front of the building view. Location requests are not taken through MS and it is luck of the draw. But that does not rule out non-location requests. One possible request through MS, if you have a studio, is for a dedicated studio. There are four of those, two with pool view and two with savanna view, and if you actually get the request you avoid front of the building view where there are no dedicated studios.

I didn't know you could make that kind of request! Do you happen to know the room numbers for the 4 dedicated value studios? I like that they have an extra closet right at the entrance.

Also, from watching walkthrough videos on YouTube, I noticed there are 2 layouts for non-dedicated value studios. One that has a connecting door right at the entrance to the room and one where the connecting door is across from the pull out sofa. I wonder if you could make a request asking for a particular layout? If you're next to another party that is noisy or runs on different hours than you, I would think having the connecting door at the entrance would be better than directly across from your bed?

There are actually 8 dedicated value studios. Savanna View: 5120, 5122, 5124, 5126. Pool View: 5014, 5016, 5018, 5020. We request dedicated studios wherever we can but we don't bother when booking Value studios because there are so few that would be coming open on a given day that you pretty much just get whatever there is.

I only tried to make a room request for a value studio once. MS said they wouldn't take a request for a view (I wanted savannah view) but they would take a request for a room #, so I requested #5122. That time my room was as faraway as possible.

Thanks! Sounds like requesting is worth a shot but highly unlikely, since there are so few you just get what is available.

@JETSDAD did you mean 5014, 5016, 5018, 5020?

Would I be right to assume the value 1 bedroom villas at Jambo are also incredibly hard to get?

At 10-11 months they are generally quite easy. There can even be some availability right at 7 months. It's the studios that go extremely quick which in turn makes the 2 BR go fast due to only being lock offs.

I’ve done so much research tonight on it my head is spinning. We want to stay in one bedroom villas but if we nab a Value one in Jambo house, they loose the 2nd bathroom over Kidani and about 3ft size but is 47 points less a week. From what I understand, there’s not many of the one bedroom values

All value rooms are 2 bedroom lock offs. That is why the 1 bedrooms last longer because if someone books a studio, which is more popular, it takes the 2 bedroom out of booking, and leaves just 1 bedrooms. I’m not sure total number of values.

ETA: I didn’t realize some studios are dedicated.

Even though there aren't many of them they do tend to be easy to book. There are 10 lock offs and 8 dedicated studios. As much as the extra bathroom would be nice the points are much nicer and the locations are quite nice for the value rooms. No really long walks!

18 value studios of which 8 dedicated, 10 lock off
10 1BR lock offs which can make 10 2BRLO with a value studio

So many people walk these reservations that I’ve found that checking availability at 13:05 UK time people have shuffled their reservations forward a day and the room can magically appear if it’s not there straight away

Remember that initial DVC bookings are a max of 7 days and then you add an extra day every day after that, so it’s super difficult to get 2 weeks in a value room if that is also something you are considering.

ETA: I have added value room requests via online chat, ive done it for all 3 resorts I’m staying at inAugust

this is exactly what I’m thinking. As much as I love the look of kidani I’m slightly put off by the idea of travelling to Jambo house often to eat at Boma or the Mara. The points saved is really great too

So do think that for a UK visitor like us that getting two weeks in a value 1 bed villa is going to be too difficult ? Your essentially waiting for everyone else to walk their reservation like you said a day to free it up.

so UK time is 1pm for us to make DVC bookings?

Right now I have 2 trips booked (come on border, open up)....value studio and value 2BR so yeah, I kind of like those rooms! lol

i can see why. Me coming along just adds another person to the list of trying to get these rate rooms.

I’m looking at august travel dates when it seems DVC is slightly Less busy

While there's never a guarantee, for that time of year if you are on right at 8AM 11 months out there shouldn't be a problem. I tend to get nervous so would probably grab it earlier than necessary and walk it but they don't normally require that.
