If you stayed in this room can you tell me if you saw animals from your room?

Thanks!

No, the first time we stayed at AKL, standard view, we had a view of the front of the hotel/ smoking area. It made using our balcony not so fun since the smokers were right below us.

This summer we did. We were in Kidani. Our room was past the swimming pool. I am not sure of the name of the area we were in, but we had some time of deer ( sorry drawing a blank on names) and other animals right in front of us.

We were there last month in a standard room. We got a room on the Kudu Trail, and
we could see animals from our balcony. Mostly ostriches & zebras. That was a great surprise, and we were delighted!

We were NOT happy with our standard-view room at AKL (rooftops). If you want to see animals I would book a view room. Others get upgraded but I wouldn't count on it. We did NOT.

I would suggest booking pool view for the extra $10.00 per night it is worth it. There are plenty of areas to go view the animals. I did book standard view once and did get upgraded.

Yes.

Also, it's possible that the posters who are saying they had standard view and saw animals from their rooms were upgraded and didn't realize it.

We weren't told that we'd been upgraded when we checked in, although the CM did confirm that we'd booked a standard room. I had no expectations of seeing animals from our room, so it was quite a surprise...

I booked a standard view villa back in April, since I was only staying 2 nights. I was at the very end of the kudu trail. I had a direct view of a building, but to the right was fence where giraffe and zebra hung out most of the day.

I booked a Std Room and the Balcony overlooked the front entrance of AKL

We booked a standard view once. We ended up at the end of a hallway, which seemed like a very long walk from the lobby. At first we were disappointed - but when we got in the room and went to the balcony, to the left was the end of the Savannah, so there were animals - and to the right was the pool. Best of all, there was a stairwell right next to our room, which led immediately to the pool! It was probably one of the best rooms we ever had at the lodge. We used that stairway all week. That being said, I agree with previous posters - if you want animals, pay for that view. We have stayed many times at the lodge, and prefer booking Pool View. That guarantees you a close room - easy access to the pool, food and buses.

We've had a pool view before and I'd rather standard view to pool view. People were in the pool very late and screaming right under our balcony. I would not do pool view again because of that.

Also possibly the edge rooms that had obstructed views so they got recoded to Standard.

I absolutely hate the pool view rooms due to the noise from the "pool party" they have every afternoon. It seems to go on forever. I would take a standard view over pool view any day. My recommendation, if you can't afford savannah view, ask for standard top floor away from the smoking area.
