We will be at Animal Kingdom on Monday 11-8. It is DH,DD 4 and myself. We have booked with the Princess and Prince Package, so we have PS for the Shows. These are the times for our shows and I was wondering if this is doable and if the shows are worth seeing.
Flights of Wonder 10:30am
Pocahontas and Friends 12:25pm
Tarzan Rocks 1:45pm
Lion King 4:30pm

Also will this make it possible to see all of the attractions? We are planning on getting there for the early entry.

Thanks for any Advise!!:D

When you get to AK, do the Safari first. You should be able to get most of the big attractions done if you utilize fastpass. I use the touring plan from The Passporter and LOVE it. It tells you in detail what to do first and what to get fastpasses for-- very helpful if your not familiar with the park.

Also, I didn't see Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade on your schedule. It's at 4:00pm and worth seeing.

Festival of the Lion King is my daughter's all time favorite show EVER! She has always loved Lion King, and saw the show for the first time when she was 4 or 5, and she would go every day we were there if she could! The performers are pretty good, too -- I could listen to Veryl Jones (the lead guy) all day long! :)

Tarazan Rocks was a little loud and kind of boring for my DD. She did like the skate boarders, but that was about it, really. We've never seen Flights of Wonder, and DD has Pochontias on her "To Do List."

The Jammin' Jungle parade is also very much worth seeing! And as everyone will tell you, do the safari first! :)

Have fun!

My DS's (4&5) love the Lion King show. We never miss it. The lokks are their faces are worth it all. We were there last during a turenchial down pour which lasted all day so all the showes were tough to get in. But aim high and it can be done. :wave2: princess: princess:

The Lion King show, and the parade, are great for all ages. Our family enjoys the Tarzan show because we love the music from the movie. We also love the bird show because we are animal lovers and my oldest DD13 is crazy about birds of prey. A 4 year old may not appreciate it, it depends on the child. Young children, especially Pocahontas fans, love her show. My youngest DD is 6 and this is a favorite for her. DO NOT miss the safari, the best thing at AK IMO!!!! Have fun...Lacee

I know most people here will tell you to go on the safari ride first, but in IHOP it is not necesary. We have gone on it all times of the day and did not have to rush to get to it with the hordes of people all rushing there and usually we don't have to stand line to get on. We have done the first one in the morning, but as many times as we have been there, and that is alot, we have not seen hardly any difference in the safarie rides or animals.

All of the rest of the shows are great. We especially like the flights of Wonder. It has such a good lesson to learn, plus the birds are great. Even though we don't have children with us, we also do the Pocahontas and Friends. It is the cutest show, not very long or elaborate but very cute.

Thanks for the advice. My plan was to do Safari first and the Parade right before Lion King. I will also have to look over the Passports Guide, since I have never been to AK.
Thanks Again!!:teeth:

My DD 6 loves Flights of Wonder, but thought Pocahontas was skippable.

What I don't see in your plan is any time for "lingering" on the paths, and stopping to savor the atmosphere and the little details. Our touring plan got all out of whack when DD developed a need to stop and watch the tigers for a long time. I finally let go of my "drill sargeant" we're going to miss Tarzan routine...and we missed Tarzan. didn't regret it.

Also don't see the boneyard or a meal in your plan?

If your show times are changeable, then I would try to move either the Pocahontas show or the Lion King show. These 2 shows are right next to each other. They are both in Camp Minnie Mickey and a good walk away from everything else. I would hate to have to go over there at 12:25 and then go back for 4:30. It would be much better to try to arrange to do them closer together, then meet and greet some characters and then you would be done with that section.

Just a thought.

Yeah, lol, that hot 4:30 walk (uphill!) to Camp Minnie Mickey after you've been all over Ak can be killer, lol!

Seems that is where the tension in my family starts!:D

Hi
Since you will be utilizing early entry, I say go to the safari 1st, then you can hit the lionking show, followed by the pocahontas show and then either fastpass the bug life or go to tarzan. That gets the major things out of the way. Then you can see the rest of the park or go back to the shows if you want to see them again. My DH and I have done this schedule for 4 years and we are out of AK by 1, then go to MK for the rest of the day. We even manage to go to Dinoland and get out by 1. I don't think I've ever spent an entire day there. Of course I've never seen the parade and I hear it is great, but it is at 4 or 5 but by then you would have seen everything.:wave2:

I don't want to get flamed for this. There is more to do at AK than just the shows. It usually takes us at least a day and a half to do the park. After you have seen the mandatory rides and shows, stop and smell the roses. It is an amazing park. There are two walking trails that are great. You need to walk them slow not rushing through like most people, you will get to see alot of different things. The big thing is you must look, it will not jump out at you. There is area where there are gibson monkeys with a baby that is a lot of fun to watch. Take a look at the walkway, the style of the buildings, etc. Walk around the tree seeing all of the animnals. Look for the coke bottles on the electric poles. What I am trying to say, this is such an amazing park in details that most people will never see, because they rush from ride to ride and then leave.

Just a short story. Our daughter, son in law and children had gone to the park without us. When they decided to join us on one of our vacations we told them we were going to Ak and they said that was fine as they had joined us. So we went. We slowed them down. They were the rushers from one thing to another people. We were there about two hours when my daughter turned to me and said they had seen more in the two hrs than they had seen the time they went and rushed from one thing to another. On our last full day at Disney we asked the children ages at that time was 6 and 4, which park did they want to go back to MK or Ak and they choose Ak. I don't mean everyone will love this park, but give it a chance.

Conservation Station is an overlooked treasure. We spent a lot of time looking at the exhibit on food for the animals, and a lot of time watching them work with an animal in the "hospital." (Plus a bunch of Gen Xers in a staff meeting trying to pretend like they were interested because they were in a fishbowl.)

We also spent a long time watch the person dressed like the tree move ever so slowly. My DD did the kids' scavenger hunt/kids station thing, and spent a lot of time looking at the carvings on the Tree of Life. When you arrive early in the morning all kinds of cast members are standing there with exotic animals and in exotic costumes, and most folks just rush by them. We learned that to stop and savor makes for the best moments of the day.

It's also impossible to pry DD out of the boneyard unless she's had an hour to spend there.

I agree with the previous 2 posts. The trails and Conservation Station are great! We are an animal loving family and really enjoy AK. We usually do it in one day, but we are there from opening to closing!!! We have done the Donald breakfast (lots of fun!) and really enjoyed Tusker House our last trip for a late lunch!

well at least there are 4 of us that do not think"Ak is a1/2 day park" we spent 2 days and could have spent more and so now our fav. park!

talk to the cms....they know so much about the exhibits .( had a very interesting conversation with one at Conservation station...like did you know purina makes "elephant chow"???, the K dragon kills it's prey by infecting it with a bacteria? really learned a lot...for those who do not think"learn " is a bad word:) )

we did ee day and did safari first which imo was the best time since we saw many more active animals than in the pm, then ttbab. by then other stuff was open. we went in Jan and saw lion king and poc. the last show of each i think. we missed the bird show cause we ran out of time.( should have checked the schedule but wasn't worried since it was "only a /12 day park ":teeth: Tarzan rocks was ok for what it was, more like a stunt show .

the musicians are great also.. (they let you play the drums in africa across from tusker house) so try to see them also...and like the others said soak in the scenery...imo they did a great job with themeing in this park

I really appreciate everyone's advice. I set the shows up because I could. After I set them up I couldn't decide if it was a good thing or not. I think I will try to move Pocahontas. And take everything slow, If we get to our seating Great if not we will try to catch it later. Thanks Again for the Advice. I am looking forward to this park because I have not been there.:jester:

Where can I find the show times? Or did you find these out by calling the mouse himself?

Depending on where you watch the parade from, it may be difficult to get from your parade viewing location to Camp Minnie-Mickey in time for the 4:30 FOTLK show.

If you watch the parade at the corner right by the "trail" which leads to Minnie/Mickey you can be ahead of the entire crowd heading to FOTLK

meant to quote the above post and messed it up but do that and do not make the mistake we did of getting stuck by the safari for the parade....took us forever to get away from the parade since great crowds followed behind it and trapped us in their midst( got screamed at cause i tried to cut across to get out of the crowd, what a mess). we did make it to camp but barely
