How long is the ride?

I was thinking I might go on it twice - once first thing in the morning and once towards the late afternoon. I think it's awesome to see animals :)

How much time will this take?

::MickeyMo The safari itself takes about 10-15 minutes at least, but it is the wait in line that can take the most time. We know a cm at AK and she told us the first time we went to go first thing in the morning because this was the time of day you are more likely to see the animals (especially if it is hot!) or at closing time when they are rounding the animals up for the end of the day. If the line is long get a fast pass. But no matter how long the wait it is definately worth it. I would go to the AK just to do the Safari! Have Fun!

If I remember correctly they say at the beginning of the ride it takes about two weeks. :) Although some poachers cut the trip short each time.

Be aware that fast passes can sometimes run out by mid afternoon so you may have to plan ahead a little if you want to ride in late afternoon.

Disney REALLY needs to do something about their poaching problems! :teeth:

I would definitly do the safari twice. Maybe do it first thing in the morning and then go back and get a fast pass later- that way you can ride it twice w/minimal waits.

FYI, every safari is different. You can go on the safari and get right back on (with fastpass) and the animals have moved. We did this last year and the first safari we did not see the lions and the second time, the lions were in sight and also some giraffes were right next to the truck. Keep that in mind that you don't have to ride in the morning and at night to see a "different safari".

Oh yes I know I can ride it any time and see something different. I just meant we'll do it first then do the rest of the park and come back. :)

I'll probably do it 3 times LOL

Would it be possible to go straight to the Safari from opening of the gates and grab a fast pass and then queue for the ride too? Would the fast pass already be running from park opening?

Due to time constraints (we will only be at WDW for 2 days) we can't go to AK until the afternoon on May 20th. What time do you think we would have to be there in order to get a fast pass for the safari? We will be doing both MGM and AK in the same day, and since that is the first day of SWW at MGM, I thought it would be more important to be at MGM first thing in the morning, and save AK until the afternoon.

If we can't get a fast pass, do you think we would be able to get on a safari faster around parade time?
