I came across the DIS boards about 3 weeks before our last trip to Disney. After we got back I heard from lots of people about things they did in Animal Kingdom that we never heard of and missed. Basically all we did was ride the safari thing and looked at some African (I think!) animals. What did we miss and what should we make sure we don't miss. We will have DS7, DD4, DN6, and SIL16. (plus 5 adults) Any help is really appreciated. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Some of the other things we did were: Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Kali River Rapids, Festival of the Lion King (show), Its a Bugs Life (3D movie), Tarzan Rocks (show-I'm not sure if its still there or not), Wildlife Express train, and Flights of Wonder (bird show). We also saw the parade.

If all you get to do at Animal Kingdom is
see "The Festival of the Lion King" it is worth it.
My favorite walk is th Mahajah trails
(not sure it I spelled it correctly) in Asia,
I love to watch the tigers on the trail and love to look at the
beautiful murals/painted effects on the wall.
Everytime I go on that trail I say I would love the walls in
my home to look like this.
I am in such a good mood when I finish the trail.

ok, so we will do the Festival of the Lion King for sure. What is dinosaur and the river rapids? I think maybe we did the trail cause we saw the tigers and the awesome murals. Don't ask where I got African from.

Tarzan Rocks has been replaced with the new Finding Nemo musical, which is worthwhile to see if you can fit it in.

What is dinosaur and the river rapids?
Dinasaur is found in the Dinoland USA part of the park. It's a simulator ride where you are riding in a big jeep-like vehicle ("Time Rover") that takes you back in time to rescue a prehistoric creature before a large meteor hits Earth. It's a fairly exciting ride where you experience numerous "close calls" with large carnivorous dinosaurs and a few meteor showers.

Kali River Rapids is an outdoor water raft ride through a Nepalese themed area. The ride is found in the Asia part of the park. The boats are large round shaped that seat about 6-8 people each and they turn as you float so you never know if you're going to get drenched or not. Definitely wear a poncho if you don't want to get soaked.

If you go to the Theme Parks section of The Dis you can see an overview of each of the parks with decriptions of all the rides. Here's a link to the Animal Kingdom section: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/animalkingdom/ak-overview.htm
I just thought you might find it helpful.

:)

My DS loves the play area in Dinoland. My DH and I will find a nice fan to sit in front of and let me DS run around. He loves the dino dig and just running around. We can spend atleast and hour there.

Don't forget Expedition Everest. I love that ride!

Don't forget to check our Camp Mickey (I think that's what it's called). You get to take pictures/ autographes with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in their safari gear (I love all the different outfits) :)

Thank you all. I will check out the website. Everybody is so helpful on the DIS Boards.;)

We were the same way with our first trip but keep finding that AK takes longer and longer with each visit. People tend to walk past the live entertainment which is really one of the hidden gems of the Animal Kindom. You'll find great information and schedules by clicking the "Animal Kingdom" tab at http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/

Our favorites (so far) are: DiVine and the Karuka Acrobats. "Smear, Splat, & Dip" were fun too.

Another thing I remembered about Animal Kingdom,
Be there whenever it opens and go straight to
Camp Mickey & Minnie and all of the Charactors
come out and there is no waiting to get Autographs.
We had went when my son was 6 and we were
one of the first people to get to the Camp and
then my son was walking on that bridge and here
comes Chip and Dale and they both took my son
by the hand and walked together over the bridge,
we took pictures, you should have seen his eyes
light up. Then Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald came
in a group right behind them.
That was so much fun!:woohoo:

AK is my favorite park!! Well....except for Dinosaur, that was scary!
