Coming to Disney next August. It's our second time at WDW but first time going to Animal Kingdom. I have some questions about specific rides as I have some health issues with my eyes. It's not a black and white if I can go on certain rides but I want to get a better idea of the rides so I can discuss them with my specialist (appointment coming up).

As a general guide....I need to avoid things with fast accelerations and be careful on rough/bumpy rides. I avoid things like full rollercoasters with big drops and things like Tower of Terror, but things like Soarin are ok. Something like Pirates with a single drop is also ok. For our last Disneyland trip, I even went on Big Thunder Mountain as it's more swoops and turns vs big hills (but may avoid this time)

So, can you help describe these rides in terms of quick accelerations or general speed, drops and bumps? I have tried looking at YouTube videos but thought I'd get descriptions from personal experience.
  • Kali River Rapids - I've read that it's "tame" or "not too exciting" so am hoping this one is ok. The odd bump is ok (and getting soaked in August is ok too....lol).
  • Kilmanjaro Safari - I'm guessing the ride itself can be bumpy if it's like jeep or on natural roads? Or is it fine? I assume this one is fine but just making sure.
  • Navi River - My understanding is this is a calm boat ride (with cool technology) so no issue.
  • Dinosaur - We went on Indiana Jones at Disneyland. My understanding is physically it's the same (just a different theme)? Loved it at DL and would love to see this version so will need to make a call.
  • Flight of Passage - ok...this is the big one that I really want to ride and hoping Lightning Lane will let it be possible. Is it similar to Soarin? Anything to know about?
Much appreciated.
(Will probably have similar question for other parks but will post another thread as I do more research)

Kali River- Bumps
Kilmanjaro Safari- between bumps and strait up jarring depending on your driver.
Navi River- Slow and calm- think its a small world but with Navi and glowing plants. It is a dark ride.
Dinosaur- dark. Very bumpy. Very jarring. Some people say straight up painful and refuse to ride. I don't know your exact needs, from your description I would say its a no.
Flight of Passage- Dark ride that uses strobe effects to "drop" you into the ride. It doesn't actually drop you.. its a sensation. Essentially they use strobes to blind you and then you see as you're a participant riding. Wind blows on your face during the ride but all drops and speed are simulated not actually occuring. It definitly feels real though!

Thank you for the replies...so probably will skip Dinosaur..

How bad are the bumps on Kali River Rapids?

Relieved that FOP is most likely ok.

Kilimanjaro Safari: I would skip Kilimanjaro Safari for sure. It is extremely jarring in parts as well as can have quick accelerations and stops. The road is built with many bumps paved right into it so they can't be avoided.

Navi: - fine. Easy boat ride. Similar to it's a small world, boats may bump one another so not sure if that's a problem

Dinosaur: Yes, basically the same ride as Indiana Jones in DL with a different theme.

Flight of Passage: Smooth, not jarring. Similar to Soarin with a different riding mechanism so imagine riding on a tilted motorcycle, leaning forwards. Great ride if you can do it!

Really appreciate the replies. Ok....so Kilimanjaro Safari and Dinosaur are a no. Navi and Flight of Passage are a yes. I have a spreadsheet so am marking these accordingly.
