Animal Kingdom - Pottery artist

On our last trip to WDW I saw some pottery pieces I really liked at the Art Of Disney Store at AK and they were also at the AKL store. I was looking for some pictures online and can't find them but not sure of the artist name. They are different pieces one of them a larger vase. They are made in an African style / colors with Mickey heads worked into the pattern.

Anyone know the artist or where I could find some online pics?

I don't know the answer just from the description here, but you may want to call WDW Information and have them put you in touch with the shop directly. If you describe the items to them, they can probably figure out who the artist is and point you in the right direction.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I know they'll know what I'm talking about the work is pretty distinctive and was a major item in the stores.

I know exactly what you are talking about- I just purchased a mug when we were at the AK last week.

I'm at work right now but I'll get the info from the bottom of my mug when I get home and post it for you.

The company name is Penzo. If you Google them, you will find that they make many different lines of pottery, but you will not find the Mickey-head pottery anywhere but at WDW (apparently).

I have two of the Mickey-head mugs (I bought them on my last trip in September) and plan to buy 2 more on my trip this week. I have been trying to find them online to no avail, except a dish did show up on Ebay last week.

I would encourage you to buy them as soon as you can--the pottery display at the big gift shop in AK was much smaller than it has been in the past, and I fear WDW may be phasing them out! Hope not!

Thanks all! I was able to find the name from merchandising. Not many pictures online but did find this on Ebay:

I do want a few of these pieces, hopefully they'll still have them when on our next trip. They are just so unique and fit into some other things I have.
