Animal Kingdom Parking Lot Entry

I searched and can't find the answer to my question. I remember previous threads that had to do with early entry into AK for breakfast/tours, but something like you couldn't get into the parking lot until almost 9:00? Can someone help me out? We are going to do one of the YES programs and think it would be easiest for us to just drive to AK for the morning. We are staying at AKV, so we could easily bus. We just want to be in and out as it's our only "rest" day. The program starts at 8:30 meeting outside the park. I'm thinking we should be at the gate at 8:20. Is that possible if we drive?

Sometimes the parking lot is open early, sometimes it isn't. There really isn't any way of knowing when the lot will open. I would just take the bus and not risk it.

If you ask me, Disney really should offer free parking at Animal Kingdom for those who arrive before a particular time (however early the attendant arrives).

It just seems kind of ridiculous to me that they would offer things and then if you are driving yourself basically make it impossible to get to on time.
