HI,
New here, I will be in disney in 2 weeks and I am debating on going to AK or Epcot?

My daughter is only 1 but her cousins are 6 and 8, i am leaning towards Animal kingdom............thoughts comments?

I personally would say AK, but many will suggest EPCOT. Probably a fuller day at EPCOT, and there is plenty to do. Lots of fun rides in FutureWorld, lots to do at Innoventions, and they may really enjoy the Kidcot stations around the world.

If they love animals, then AK is hard to beat, but not as many attractions as EPCOT.

EPCOT. After MK, this is my favorite park. My boys are 7 & 11 and are done with AK before lunch.

and they may really enjoy the Kidcot stations around the world.

I also let my kids buy a candy item from one of the countries.

It's hard to answer without knowing a little bit more info. How long will you be in Disney? By this I'm assuming a very short trip. Also, will you have park hopper passes? Are you planning on staying from rope drop to closing?

I absolutely love AK and it's a great time of year to be there weatherwise. It's nearly unbearable in the middle of the summer heat. That being said, if I only had one day to do one of the parks, I would definitely pick Epcot. There is so much more to do and it will easily fill up a day and then some. I've never spent more than a few hours in at AK, so you won't get much out of your day pass. If I only had one day and a park hopper, I might consider AK in the morning and Epcot for the evening. Otherwise it would have to be Epcot, especially since they are probably too short to go on Expedition Everest. There's no way I'd want to miss out on Illuminations. Walking around the countries watching the shows is nice and relaxing.

I also must assume you'll have a stroller and it will be spring break. AK is very hard to get around with a stroller in the crowds. Epcot is really spread out and therefore more relaxing as far as strollers are concerned.

AK is my favorite, soooooo AK! Plenty of attractions for a 1 y/o to enjoy...Finding Nemo Show, Kiliminjaro Safari's, It's Tough To Be A Bug, TriceraTop Spin, The Dino Dig Area, and then some. And the 6 and 8 y/o should like it, too.

EPCOT...more to do, more to see. Especially if you are going in two weeks (Spring Break). We have traveled to Disney over spring break for the last two years, and AK could NOT handle the crowds. If you can only visit one, I would say pick EPCOT.

I think it's really going to depend on what you prefer...We like Epcot a lot better than AK, mainly because a lot of the attractions at AK aren't really that interesting to us - I don't like stage-type shows, dd (6) isn't a fan of "scary" rides, and none of us really enjoy zoos...AK was an easy 1/2 day park the one time we went (including our next trip we will have skipped it 3 out of 4 trips).

Epcot has more rides suited to dd, and we enjoy them too...Soarin', Test Track, Seas w/ Nemo, Turtle Talk w/ Crush...and we all like exploring the different country pavilions and dd likes to visit the characters. For older kids there's also the Kim Possible activity...we haven't done it, so maybe someone else here can say if it's fun or not - we always see a lot of people taking part.

How many days are you going to be at the parks? If it is just 1 or 2, then you'll need to decide between the two. But if you are going to be there all week, you should try to visit every park. Each park is special and uniquely Disney! Each offers something totally different, equally magical, and each are well worth the visit.

If you are planning multiple days at the Magic Kingdom, why not consider visiting every park and just 1 or 2 days that the MK? The MK is our THIRD favorite park... after Epcot and Animal Kingdom. We would never have known that if we hadn't ventured out years ago to see what else Disney has to offer.

On our trip last week we spent 2.5 days in Epcot and got to see everything... once... (one day my parents were with us so it was slow moving) :lmao: We also went to AK and spent one full day there. We did not get to see everything... we missed one of the trails, Lion King, Everest (it was storming), the Tree of life, the show in the tree, and the character area. I am not sure why so many people say that AK is a half day park... Our family could easily spend two days in AK. Next time I think we will plan for two days in AK and two days in Epcot. Then just skip the things in Epcot that we could do without. But if we had to choose which park to go to... Myself and my one DD 13 would choose AK and the rest would probably choose Epcot.

thanks guys for all your replys!!
We plan on doing MK all of next sunday from opening til closing.

Next monday the 29th we are going to do AK in the morning and epcot in the evening, dont want my family to miss illuminations at epcot.

I am an active military civilian, can I get a discount if I upgrade my one day park hopper to a second day to go to a different park?

Epcot is always a must for us. There is quite a lot that the 1yr old could enjoy (Gran Fiesta Tour, Spaceship Earth, The Seas With Nemo & Friends, Figment, Living With The Land, American Adventure, Character Spot, World Showcase performers, Illuminations ). And Ellen's Energy Adventure (though the Dino scene may be a bit frightening for a 1yr old). But overall, Epcot has a lot more rides suitable for smaller children, and is very enjoyable for the adults.
