A LONG time ago.....I think even 1998, I remember I was in a gift shop at AK and saw this there. I believe the price was around $100 framed and since I am pretty much a collector of anything, I had to buy one. So I did. I did NOT remember seeing very many around, so that made the purchase even better for me!!:lmao:

Since that time, I haven't heard nor seen much of anything about them. Was curious if anyone knew of any information regarding them?? Its hanging on my wall and I thought to ask here if anyone knew some things like....

1. Were they actually given out as tickets for opening day?

2. It says that its a limited edition (mine is 1016/19980), does that mean they were all framed or just a few??

3. Any other random bits of information?

Thanks for any help!! :wizard:

You have a low number which would be desirable to a collector looking for this. The numbers mean that yours was the 1016th made out of 19980 of them. They would all be identical since they are numbered. Usually, the lower your print number the more is it valued at. Those with number 100 would be worth substantially more than yours but far less than the 19950th.

I don't know anything about the value of these since I have never seen one but Im sure it has increased in value with such a low number of them made. 20k is not a lot in the grand scheme of visitors.

The words "limited edition" have been severely abused in the last decade by places like Mattel who use it on a Barbie and then make a million of them. People see "Limited Edition" and think "oh wow they are only making a limited number of these. I must buy it!" but what they don't realize is that the exact number of how many are being made are not easily found out and "limited" only means a "set amount". That set amount can be any number. Therefore that "Limited Edition" is worthless in a case like this. This should not be the case for you because of the low "mintage" of the item.

It will only be worth what someone is willing to pay but there are lots of Disney collectors out there. Its a beautiful piece.

That's so cool! I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that. However, since I love all things Animal Kingdom, you can be sure I'll be looking and asking questions on my next trip. What a wonderful purchase!
