Animal Kingdom News

The data that was on dvc site did not say that nor did dvc at first till they read there in house emails and then the web site..

I have been dealing with this all morning I will get the answers that is for sure.

I do have confimation that they have been using the new barn ..

Except the blurb on the news section of dvcmember.com last night didn't give the January 15, 2009 date, only the April 15th, 2009 date. That made it sound like the animals were gone NOW.

It is typical DVC poor communication.

I agree....I think this was a matter of bad proof reading, and thus bad communication, from DVC Member Services on the news release...and that (rightly so) lit off a panic.

I think the fact the release disappeared is a good bit of evidence that something was fubared. :)

but I guess we'll have to wait and see, difinitively, when we get the final word from MS.

I haven't read all the posts in the last 5 pages so this info may have already been stated but I have a sav. view studio for March 2nd and I called DVC today and they said that I wouldn't be affected next week and this wasn't going to happen until 2009.

The date for the closing of the savanna are Jan 15th 2009 - April 15th 2009 .

The other facts remain the same as far as points ..

I would like to thanks All the DVC staff and Barn staff at AKV for clearing this up

Whewwwwwwwwww I am safe

This is a outrage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should have disclosed this much earlyer then this

I have a club level room april 18-27 and i get no reduction in points..

As excited as so many issues make you, do you sometimes think DVC might not be right for you?

I do not think that at all I just think this was a better battle the one over nothing like normally get brought up.

SO there

Yes! As Concierge said, they are trying to fix the incorrect info that was posted at DVC website.

One more time, we HAVE the answer from AKV:

"I bring you good news! We have been getting a lot of e-mails and phone
calls about that particular piece of DVC news and I am here to assure
you that I have spoken with our Animal Programs Cast Members and they
have confirmed for me that the animals on the Sunset Savanna are not
going anywhere for the time being. We are thinking that what DVC is
talking about is the NEW savanna that will be visible from the Kidani
Village. Hopefully, we can find out who we need to contact to get the
right information on the DVC website soon."

Thanks for posting your response. I was one of the emails that they recevied but I haven't heard back yet. They are probably working on my ADR requests. :thanks:

I'm sorry for the upsetting news on your upcoming trip to AKL. I would be upset too.

But you have to look at it this way. Concierge is not a guaranteed SV catagory. You have a 50/50 shot. And the animals do need to be cared for during the construction and acclimated to their new surroundings. I would hate to hear that something tragic has happened to one or more of the animals during the expansion phases at AKL.

It's better safe than sorry for the animals sake.

I have reservations in Oct 2008 and I have to agree with you. I would never want any of the animals put in harms way just so I could look at them. I am also glad I found out now instead of being disappointed when I arrive. At least now I can prepare my family for not seeing the animals from our room. And since we are DVC members there is always next time and next time and next time ...........................................;) :goodvibes

lllmurphy17, based upon today's posts that I have seen, if your reservation is in Oct 2008 then the sunset savanna at Jambo house will still be open.

Calm down, Dave... This has been a test of the DVC communication system. If this had been an actual emergency...

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Glad everything seemed to work out well for everyone!

I personally am still outraged over the change to the chicken tenders, but that is for another thread:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Phew...What a relief! I was nervous at first because we are making our 1st trip home to AKV from 3/30-4/3 and were so excited to see the animals. Thankfully I read through this entire thread!! :woohoo:

Thanks for the heart attack! Now I can breathe again.

Almost had an aneurism too when I first saw this thread!

Rob :)

I'm glad to hear that all of you will still have your SV. :goodvibes

Thanks to all who worked to get us this information. We are booked for 8 nights SV at the end of May. We are taking my mom for the first time and couldn't wait to show her the animals. Glad to know we won't be affected!

Whewwwwwwwwww I am safe

So it seems that the only members who may be affected are AKV owners who booked 11 months out for dates between Jan 15 '09 and whenever DVC realized they'd be closing the savanna (approx. mid-Feb?). Those guaranteed SV reservations are the only ones that need a point credit, right? Anyone making a reservation now (and near future) for next March & April. will occupy the affected villas as a Standard View booking right from the start?

Glad everyone can breathe a sigh of relief!

Okay, I'm a bit confused lol

Help please! This sunday i'm making part 2 of my first trip home reservations. A 2 bedroom SV view. Now, I understand the other SV's are open. So if I am given a SV view room booking am I all good? Or is it a metter of when i get there I may just be an unlucky one who gets no view and my points back?

So I guess my question is, have they just taken those rooms facing the sunset and temporarily made them standard. Or is there going to be issues of overbooking too many Savannah view rooms compared to rooms available?
